How can I create a commercial game?

Please don't tell me that the engine is old, I know already, I don't care, and I already made games with Unreal and Unity, and I have lots of experience with Hammer.

I want to create a commercial game using the Source Engine, (or hopefully the Source 2 Engine if Valve can give me an SDK for it), but according to this page, I have to contact them first. The Source SDK 2013 GitHub page[github.com] says that I have to contact [e-mail]. I contacted it, and after weeks, no answer. I asked Steam Support and they said that the forums can help. Any advice? Thanks.

Simply type in source engine, and you'll find tons of info regarding distributing a mod and or commercial game. It also documents what you should be doing to publish your game, as well as providing you with info on licensing fees for source.

Valve don't deliver Source engine licences anymore for commercial games using that engine. Exceptions may be made, but the content being developed needs to be at a state that justifies granting access to a Source engine license (i.e the game you want a license for needs to be far enough in development). I worked on a mod that was granted a Source engine license many years ago, but Source 2 was still in its infancy. Even then, despite having a Valve representative for the game you want to publish on Steam, there's really next to no support from them. You're pretty much on your own.

Beyond making mods, you won't be able to get yourself a licence for Source 2 (as of now).

Steam Support is outsourced. You got a canned response so they can get rid of you quickly, because your question is outside of their area of expertise. Support works on account and billing issues only.
