If that doesn't help, it might help if you posted exactly where you are (which hero or villain chapter, etc.). Or, there are plenty of walkthroughs for the game online, and they should answer your question.
It's literally a black object that sparkles, I one is towards the end of chapter 5 of episode 1 on the hero side, another is at the start of chapter 2 of episode 1 on the villians side.

I figured it out, even though they're black sparkling objects it seems they can be blasted with the bombs for silver objects.
I suppose, but me playing a lot of other lego games, including the sequels to this, my brain knows that black sparkling objects requires a special ability different from the bomb ability for silver objects
yup, it's quite common, even in the sequels to this I believe.
I tend to play one game at a time almost exclusively, with occasional brief diversions into something else, until I finish it, or just eventually start playing something else for some reason. So many games that I've never even installed, much less played.
