I'm a dev, so, obviously I'm biased. But, what I will say to you and anyone else who has this question is this... try the demo!

It's free, so there's no risk to try it. Right now, there's no demo for the second game on Steam, but, you can get it directly from us here: http://arcengames.com/w/index.php/valley2-features .

Then, if you like it you can either buy it directly from us, or from Steam, and get both games!
yes it is totally worth it! its kinda weird at first but after awhile you'll get the hang of it! you'll be spending hours on this game cause it's so addictive and fun! best platform game i've ever played and i recomend it to everyone to atleast try it!
...wow i'm dumb, didnt even see the demo tab XD alright, thanks for your input, i'll try the demo lol
If you've ever played Act Raiser, you'll like this. If you played AI War and like it's design, you'll like this game. If you just enjoy a platformer that has a lot of depth but encourages you to get in get what you need and get out, you'll like this game.

It was worth it to me and imo, has been very unfairly reviewed by people that don't understand what the game is about. If you read a few of them and see what the gripes are, you'll get what I mean. Not only that but every review is too old to really consider at this point because the game changed a bit through patches.

Hope you enjoy it because the guys over at Arcen deserve your money. Not affiliated with them but I enjoy their game design.
This game is nuts.

And totally worth it. It's like Metroid, Zelda: A Link to the Past and Terraria, all rolled up in a fruit rollup that I stick in my mouth and...

Uhh...yea, it's worth it.
I'm concerned about Metacritic score.. It's too low, certainly something's wrong with this game.

Though I'm interested on the pack deal, score puts me off...
I guess the low score is because of the graphics. I can clearly see how that can put a lot of people off - even I, though I *love* AI War, wasn't exactly eager to buy AVWW. But I did after all and definitely don't regret it. If I had to tell you one similar game, I would definitely say the old good Metroid.

Well, metacritics is like average temperature of all patients in a hospital. You know it's 36.6C and yet it doesn't tell you a thing.

Don't be concerned over reviewers opinion, just try the demo, it's there. Personally I wanted to give it a 5 minute run, loaded the game, and then an hour just went somewhere.

Of course, it may get repetitive (most of the world is randomly generated) and it may be the reason it got so low average score, but consider this:
- Gameplay is good. Difficulty is fully customizable, and I was pleased to discover that fighting requires some old skills :) And it's multi-genre game. It's rpg, sidescroller and strategy with an option of multiplayer. Everything balanced nicely. Also it's not modern "Press X to win", you'll have to learn to play this game, but it won't be painful at all: your path from start location to first settlement will be nice and clever tutorial.
- Music is nice, and it's not a small point.
- Trivia and game concept are interesting. It makes you curious about this world so you'll want to explore it.

So even if it gets repetitive in time, it'll still be fun. But, nevertheless, try the demo first.
This game is amazing get it right now because u get the second one with it for free, its kinda a procedurally generated metroidvania game

Yeah well, any game that requires the player to use more than 2 brain cells will get a low metacritic score, thats how things work.
On the other hand, games that can be played using only one brain cell get stellar scores.
Regardless there is a DEMO, use it, see for yourself if this game is what you want or not.
yes it is worth it in fact im willing to say to say that this is superior than the second one its fun addicting not nesscesarily hard and oh boy does it have quite the musical score!
This game totally sucks and does not worth for buy. Thanks god, it is gifted to me so I didn't buy to waste my money.
If your a gamer who is maybe in their late 20's or older... LOVED the old arcade, Sega and SNES rpg's/action games, toe jam and earl, crono trigger, altered beast, all that kinda stuff. Then this game is up your ally. TONS of fun. A great bit of depth for a "simple little" game anda good mix of RPG and platforming. It's really as big and complex as you want it to be, and has lots of room to play with

However if your 15-19, Love call of duty, dragon age 2, and have never even heard of a commadore 64 or amiga, then this IS NOT your game.

You will have to have to have an imagination and some creativity to really enjoy this game. If your a mindless game zombie. well. then wait for "A valley without wind: zombie Island DLC"
I picked this up during the holiday sale, and I'm really liking it a lot. I don't think the reviewers played the same game that I'm playing.
rattata keep your opinion to yourself if its not positive if youre a gamer who played games like super metroid as a kid your going to love avww
