STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II: The Sith Lords™

No prestige class run
Has anyone tried going through the game without picking a prestige class? I.e. straight Jedi Guardian, Sentinel or Consular and no Weapon Master, Watchman, or Master (and the Sith equivalents).

Are there any advantages to doing so? Thinking of going straight Jedi Guardian.

I know that if I went a straight Jedi Guardian all the way through, I'd get a lot more vitality and defense bonuses than I would if I picked a prestige class.

And there is the unarmed perks.

The tricky bit is avoiding having to choose a prestige class after you reach level 15. That means either not getting Visas (think you can delay that by managing alignment but she will trigger eventually), not committing light or dark (again, managing alignment but you don't get the bonuses for full light/dark, str for guardian and weapon master) or don't talk to Kreia (pretty hard to avoid).

So you would have to play a grey jedi - which means you can't access the cave tomb on Korriban,

Its been awhile since I reached that point in the game, but isn't the speech with Kreia something you need to initiate. As in, its kind of optional if you don't actually initiate the specific piece of conversation.

not sure if Im making sense.
Now I'm not entirely sure whether you have to choose a prestige class or not.

I did look up a guide I've kept for years which gives stats and progression for all classes. Comparing guardian with weapon master is interesting. Both get base 10 vitality and one skill point per level but WM gets 6 FP compared to guardian's 4.

WM gets some extra feats -

Greater Prestige Sense gives +2 def every five levels

Increase Melee Damage - slight increase in what it says

Deflect - +1 to deflection every two levels.

Plus WM gets access to the advanced weapons feats.

Watchman gets Greater Prestige sense and sneak attack (stasis or insanity your prey and the sneak attack bonuses are overwhelming).

Master isn't clear cut, better in some ways but worse in others. Sith classes are similar.

If you want to go guardian it looks like WM is worth taking.
Actually it's pretty easy to not talk to Kreia

If you level to 15 and then to 16 you miss the boat on Prestige believe it or not
I did this on an old Xbox copy and was pretty irritated tbh
This was also as a full Dark side run

I did because when I played through a few months ago I was selecting mostly whatever options I wanted. I ended up kinda dark but not enough for a prestige class. It didn't make the game too hard. I did the same thing when I was a kid because I didn't know it existed.
I had the misfortune of never gaining a prestige class until it was too late. Made it virtually impossible to get passed the Sith Mauraders on Malachor V. I highly don't reccommend it.

Energy shields work against lightsabers, that might help a little.
Could always just choose it, and disable it w/ the save editor

You don't have to activate it at all
