I would try the demo out personally, it's multiplayer, but you can play against AI bots to get a feel for the game, the limitations for the demo are: Can only play the Human Alliance, can only host and launch the Ignius (2v2) map, however you can join and play on any map so long as the host has the full game. ^_^

On a side note I can't stress enough how awesome the devs are, they want you to get the most for your money, they take gameplay/balance feedback seriously, they work hard to fix any and all bugs that are reported, and they're willing to take the time to play a game with you and teach you how the game works and how to get the most out of a faction. ^_^

Also, if after playing the demo you decide to buy the game, go ahead and throw $5 more at it, free DLC for the lifetime of your account is just awesome. =)

Alright, this is going to be a long-winded affair, so I hope it's not in vain, lol.

In your game there is a Help button on the main menu, once you click on it there will be a bunch of video tutorials.

However, I don't believe they went over capturing and uncapturing resource points (referred to as capping and uncapping respectively), to capture/uncapture a resource point you select an infantry unit and right click on it (the two primary points in your base are captured by default and cannot be captured by the enemy). This is very important, you want to at least use your starting Merc (you start the game with your primary resource points, an outpost, an engineer, and a merc) to scout the map and capture resource points. If you capture a point with more than one infantry unit you will get a capture bonus, this is 33%/47%/50% for 2/3/4 units capturing the point.

There is also a button in the lower left above your unit control panel called the 'A.R.M.' it's called the Augmentation Research Mechanism, I just call it the Advanced Research Module/Menu, it allows you to upgrade your units (be careful you get a few choices per Tier as a Human player but it's a one or the other type deal, make your choices count).

All units have Ammo (represented by the orange bar underneath their green Health bar), ammo is used up as the unit attacks, once it's empty you will have to run it back to a production building (Barracks/Vehicle Factory/Airport) or a Back-up Energy Generator (one of the two capturable resource point types), you can also wait for the unit's ammo to recharge, but this is a generally time consuming process. You can also upgrade certain units (Human Medics and Zali Harvesters) to act as what I like to call a battery (they can prodive Ammo to nearby units once upgraded).

All maps have a hazard, for example, the map Ignius (2v2) - the only one you can host as a demo player - has lava vents around 4 of the map's resource points, when a unit moves onto the lava it will begin taking 5 damage per second, so be sure to capture the point quickly and get off (use the Infantry capture bonus mentioned above to reduce and spread the damage).

I think that covers the basics of the game, the tutorial videos will help too, bellow I will include a brief summary of units and structures.

Human Units:
Engineer - Builds structures. Repairs Structures and Buildings (automatically and manually). Can 'speed build' a structure at 33%/47%/50% for having 1/2/3 engineers helping.

Merc - Basic Infantry. Good against Infantry, great against Air, not so great against Vehicles.

Medic - Healer. Heals Infantry units, can be upgraded to provide Ammo.

Operative - Sniper. High dps unit, great all rounder, particularly effective against Air, Light Vehicles, Light Infantry, and Artillery. Can be beaten by heavily armored units, can be upgraded to overcome that.

Mad Rat - Specialist. Great against Infantry and buildings, not so much versus Vehicles and Air. Can be upgraded to go boom! on death, automatically forms up in the front away from your units in a group.

Titan - Shock Trooper. Has a shotgun and a jump pack, deals damage in a cone and deals more damage the closer it is to the enemy.

Hound - Basic Vehicle. Good against Infantry, can load an Infantry unit to fire it's turret, turret can shoot ground and air units.

Javelin - Artillery Vehicle. Good against groups of Infantry and Vehicles, decent against buildings. Can't shoot air units.

Behemoth - Walker Vehicle. Good against groups of units and buildings. Can't attack air iirc.

Seeker - Basic Aircraft. Good against Air units, great against Vehicles, weak versus Infantry.

Dropship - Transport Aircraft. Transports Infantry/Vehicles (iirc), can be upgraded to heal loaded Infantry.

Garuda - Siege Aircraft - Good against groups of Infantry/Vehicles and buildings. Can't attack air.

Hope this helps, if you need anymore help or have any questions be sure to send me a /t in game and I'll do my best. ^_^

When the hell is the reduced price....?.
Gruenerapfel 2 nov, 2012 @ 15:11
Better buy Starcraft II.
Its better the "Original"
and only cost ~25 atm
Pooman 8 dec, 2012 @ 20:47
why not play sc? lol
i agree with gruenerapfel : Better buy Starcraft II.

And here, there is the same constraint i hate in each game : the population limit. Here, it's 100max, but so, if you have some engi, and some infantry at the main base, you cannot have more than 4 behemot.. it's really bad..

I want RTS without limit of population to have big battle like total war and shogun2

Demo for this game SUCKS... Starcraft 2 is much better and easier to play!

Meanwhile back to Supreme Commander (1 and 2) as well as the "Total Annihilation"!

Nobody online to play this game with at all.

Game deleted because even on EASY the AI is too fast for you to get the game working properly!

This looked like such a promising game.... Oh well!

This game is not a total disaster, but you still can't call this game complete. What we play here is all beta material!
I think this game is going nowhere, even the official forums aren't working at the moment, and there is no upadates to be seen in the future.
Come on designers, show us that we didn't pay for this game for nothing.
