BFG start up problems
Just got this game and was really excited to play and try this blast from the past. Well, didn't last very long. I tried the helps on this forum, downloaded the two .dll files sugessted (msvcr100.dll and atioglxx.dll). My PC is not ancient by any means, I am running Win7 64bit, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series, 4.00 GB RAM, and am getting rather♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥about this issue. Any other suggestions out there? I would sure appreciate it!

download this file;

place it at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\

You should now try launching the game.

Hello Savior Self,
Thanks for responding to my post. I have already tried to download, extract and move the file in the DOOM folder, alas to no avail. :-/ I have also tried to download the suggested msvcr100.dll file and put it in the DOOM folder with little success.
I am frustrated by this error, as I'd like to play the game I have spent money on.

There is no extracting here. You just download the .dll from the link and drop it in the right directory.

Tried that. No dice :-/, I also tried looking what Steam Support officially have posted to help folks:

Exit Steam entirely.
Browse to your DOOM 3 BFG Edition installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\)
Run the following installers:
...\Steamapps\Common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\directx\DXSETUP.exe
...\Steamapps\Common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\msvc2010\vcredist_x86.exe
Reboot your computer and test any issues again. If the issue persists, contact Doom 3 support.

Didn't help either, I have now contacted Bethesda support and waiting for them to get back to me.

Does the Bethesda support help you?

no. it doesn't least not for me and from what I have found the SAME problem happened with the original doom3 so ya think they would have fixed it.. but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

So you can´t play it until today...
Did they gave you a compensation? o.O

Try changing these values in the D3BFGConfig.cfg file, located in C:\Users\xxx\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base

set r_windowHeight "1080"
set r_windowWidth "1920"
set r_windowY "0"
set r_windowX "0"
set r_customHeight "1080"
set r_customWidth "1920"
set r_fullscreen "-1"
set r_vidMode "-1"

One CFG saved, changed to Read-Only so it wouldn't go back to default 1280x720.

Worked for me on Windows 8.1 Pro x64, and latest 340.52 nvidia drivers (GTX 780)

Also remove the install crap for msvc2010 and directx from the installscript.vdf, so it just looks like this -

"" [Key encrypt removed for obvious reasons, don't remove yours]
