Buy the old doom 3 or this edition?

If you want the extra Doom 3 mission well there isn't a choice. Personally I would just get the Doom classic pack plus the Original Doom 3 + Expansion pack. You can use community mods to further enhance all of that.

the way I see it, i think the value of the BFG edition is in the 3D support. I already own these and I am waiting for a price point of around $10. I'd be willing to pay that just to get the 3D support since this game does have the atmosphere that would make it stellar in 3D. Many users that have played this in the 3D has commented that it is pretty good, but I can't really see them justifying their price since most of us that are Doom fans have already paid for the content. The extras don't seem worth it to me. I would either wait for a price drop or pick up the older one for under $4. That is way more value for the dollar. You won't be missing much from the BFG edition.

That's what I heard. Also, reviews have said that it's not as dark (shadows, etc.) as the original.

The Lost Mission isn't the same thing as Ressurection of Evil? Because i don't see the Ressurection of Evil being mentioned in the BFG edition.

The menu screens for BFG show the base Doom 3, the original Dooms (not including Final Doom), extra content (Resurrection and the Lost Missions).
It's got Resurrection of Evil.

Do you know if the original Doom 3 runs in 1080p? :D

Yes, of course you can. Even higher. If you use mods it will look much better than BFG too, but for this you will need a decent pc.

Yes, BFG is much brighter and is not scary. D3 was a horror/survival kind of game, demons jumping of the shadows, zombies grabing you from behind, scarce ammo. BFG is very easy, lots of ammo, easy kills. Feels very different.
The sound of BFG is very poor too, because it's a different engine it doesn't do it right.

buy the old one. Mod the ini file to get widescreen. Get the skinning mods out there and Co Op mod and gift to friends and family. I saw BFG version with the brightness and lights and faster movement and shoulder light to take away the scariness....
