Doom 3 BFG on Windows 8.1

Since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I can't run Doom 3 anymore. It crashes everytime I wish to continue the game from my last savepoint. Before the upgrade everything worked fine...

I tried running in several compatibility modes with no succes. Re-installing the whole game is a no-go for me since I have downloadlimit.

I don't get any particular error besides the "Doom3BFG.exe has stopped working".


Does anyone have similar issues or a solution for my problem?

Did you update video drivers? Win 8.1 requires different video drivers than Win 8.0, and if you didn't reinstall drivers, it probably uses Microsoft's default horrible OpenGL driver.
