How to Fix OpenGL For Dummies
I've had problems with "initializing OpenGL" when trying to start Doom. I tried looking for solutions in this Forum, but they all confuse me. Is there an easy way to fix this and play the game? If not, can I have some kind of step-by-step walkthrough?

1) Update your graphics card driver/s

2)Go to system requirements lab site, and see if you can run this version.

For starters.

How exactly do I update the garphics card? I'm not really handy at this computer gig.

My GPU? How do I find this? Sorry for not knowing anything.

You go to the control panel, then to hardware and sound, then to device manager, and in there you click on the lil arrow next to display adapter, and it will reveal what you have as a GPU/Display adapter.

There's two things under Display adapters: HP RC Mirror Driver, and Intel(R) HD Graphics.

Hm, for the Intel HD go here, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx just follow the steps...at this part..."Automatically scan your system for up-to-date drivers and install them quickly." Click the button that says continue.

Wow. Back in the days we used to get books, like MS DOS manual, and Windows for Dummies, etc. and learn how to use computers. So there was no question about what video drivers are and how to update them. ♥♥♥♥, I remember the days when people nad to figure out what video card they have and how VESA modes it supported. No GUI, no nice interface.

I guess it doesn't apply to current gen of people :/ Sad.

You can close the device driver menu you just need to run the thing on that site.

OpenGL is fixed, but the game "stops working" while the game is starting up.
