Hello, I'd like to take a crack at the game before buying - I heard there's a demo available but I don't see it anywhere on the Steam store page.

Anyone have any idea where it's gone?

It looks like it has been taken down. However you may be able to access it following these directions:

Either way, I personally recommend you just spend the $3 and buy the game :)

It's 2.50 for the normal, and 3.00 USD for the version with the OST on the official site. The Humble Store version gets you the Steam key as well but you'll make the devs a bit more cash if you buy from there.

Mind that the 1y anniversary sale is supposed to end tomorrow.

So I feel kinda crappy about this, but we removed it. I believe in demos, that's why we made one. That's why we had one up for the last 9 months. But I kept hearing things like "Oh, I saw AVNT and was going to buy it when I saw the demo and thought I'd just download that and try it. Then I never ended up playing the demo". I think with all the games in their Steam library people felt they should play the games they bought first.

I think it's just a sad fact that demo's hurt sales. There's various articles written on the subject, and most games don't have demos. I hate it because I think AVNT is a great game and feel that I'm quite willing to prove it. I also don't want people to buy it and be unhappy with it. But ultimately we're barely making it by as it is, so anytime we think something might be hurting sales we have to try to do something about it, and Holly and I figured we'd try without.

I debated not replying and simply downplaying it, but you guys are awesome and deserve an explanation. I hope you understand, sorry :\

@ Misfits Attic. OK, so I couldn't get the demo to load following those instructions. But your response about why it's no longer availible, and advising how to try and get it, means I'm gonna buy the game purely cos you're being totally cool. Nice one.

Okay, so only tangentially related... but I bought this game not long ago, and I remember spending hours on a single level a while back and I kept turning to my boyfriend saying "Find me the maker of this game, I want a personal apology for how hard this level is!!"

I finally beat it though! Now I want an 'attagirl ._. my bronze ranking feels lackluster. So yeah, that's enough thread hijacking. I should of gone to bed hours ago, Bye bye~

No I have not! I still have some City of Tomorrow levels I wanted to finish before I tried to talk him off of Crusader Kings (it's like all he plays these days) - I really don't remember which level it is. I was trying to browse through them earlier. The levels range from clever to absolutely shamelessly cruel! is multiplayer fun even without two gamepads? I didn't expect it to be local multiplayer, oddly that confuses me.

I'll probably have to come back later and say how it went. What's the whole thing with newsletter gifts? Is being a "misfit" a money thing?

Yes. I realized after watching people play and me chuckling at their pain that I'm a sadist. I figured if I made it easier you wouldn't respect me in the morning. You can play MP with any combo of gamepads & keyboard and up to 3 on keyboard. I find it fun but I also find twister fun ;)

Yes, we ran out of $ so we dropped online MP, which killed me :\

It's free, I've just been giving deals to misfits cuz most of them pre-ordered AVNT or snagged our Chess the Gathering[ctg.misfitsattic.com] prototype (first of 3 prototypes) and I appreciate that stuff. It's also a good way to promote other indies cuz the list got big (>20K). Still figuring all this stuff out, probably will be forever ;)

oh, awesomeness. I'll sign up for a mailing list, I'm totally a mailing list type of person. I would of signed up earlier but I was under the impression they got sent out like once every 6 months so I shyed away from it. I'm really curious about the chess thing though so I'll sign up right now.

Yeah, I wasn't good at sending them out very often. I'm trying to do better. I also don't wanna send them out too often and annoy people. My aim is every 2-3 months, but recently I did one about a month after the other (it was TOM's bday!)

Yeah, I'd love to hear your thoughts on CTG if you can find a friend to play. They setup a group here.

Well, the bf is kind of into magic the gathering and chess actually, so I come with a built in friend in that regard I didn't see any deck building which is sort of his favorite thing, but I'll still con him into giving it a try <3

Yeah, in theory you'll be able to eventually build your deck. Just an early prototype for now.
