Introductions and welcome.
So, I am embarrassed to say that I never knew about this community area, and have only ever been active in the Cubemen Forum here...

So, welcome every one here. My name is Seon, and I am from 3 Sprockets and the developer of Cubemen. I'll try to get back to everyone here with questions over the next few days.

It's a shame that Valve have split the community this way, so please also check the Forums for answers to your questions as there has been MUCH traffic there since launch.

Again, sorry for not being here... that is now rectified!

SeonR, thanks for participating in the forums. I've only played a couple hours so far, but I just wanted to say I'm really enjoying the game - find it very well done up to this point. I've only played classic defense so far, but I can tell I'm going to keep playing quite a bit.

I'm a big Defense Grid fan, and like the different angle/approach you've taken - kindof blending tower defense with RTS.

Feedback - the serpent level was very difficult for me when I was starting, and having it as the 3rd map and rated as "easy" might scare some folks off - but it teaches alot about the RTS components of the game which I was not accustomed to. I didn't even know how to move my men around until I played that level, and I'm enjoying the different approach to tower defense that this RTS element w/ destructible units brings.

Once I finish the levels I'm looking forward toward looking into the level editor too - thanks for putting that in!

Again, congrats on a fun game and thanks for participating here.

Thanks :-) Yes, I am going to make the Hello and Serpent levels a bit easier... but though many are finding them hard to beat, i also get people complaining that the game is too easy, so it is a very hard thing to balance and keep everyone happy!

I think I understand the balance you try to have between too hard/too easy/good challenge. Determining an audience for a game's gotta be tough. The folks that post here are probably more into it than your average gamer, so it's probably hard to get a balanced survey.

The serpent level to me was not too hard once I knew what to do, but for the third level of the game it was intimidating - but in a good way. The ramp on the learning curve moved fast - especially for somebody like me who was unfamiliar with RTS in general. I found many of the medium levels after it to be much easier than serpent level - but that could be because I had learned so much about the game concepts trying to beat the serpent level (about 20 times LOL).

I remember a quote from the Defense Grid folks who said they watched people play-testing DG and they were concerned because people looked frustrated as they were learning - but it was a good type of frustrating. Even thought they were frustrated, the play-testers wanted to keep replaying until they figured out the concepts of the game and how it worked. For me the serpent level had alot of that type element, but I think it taught me some of the basics of RTS and how the units worked and needed to be utilized to deal with superior range of enemies (especially when you have no ground cover).

But I also agree that some levels can be too easy once the correct strategy is figured out - but that's not to say that there can't be an easy and hard difficulty setting - because something too hard can turn people off. Varying less or more starting resources can make an easy level hard pretty effectively. I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but I'd guess alot of good players will find their challenge there. I'm also looking forward to messing with the level creator too.

But take this for what it's worth - I do find the game "FUN" and that's important - regardless of all the other dynamics of the game. Even if I find a level too hard or too easy - it's still "FUN" either way. You've got a good thing here.

Hi Seon,

thanks for the great game! Hope to see some DLC´s soon :-)

Is the "cubemen master"-achievement (play and win all defense levels) fixed yet? Since some patch it got broken... If not could you have a look into that matter, and post here as soon as it should work again?

Thanks! Cheers
SeonR  [developer] Jan 20, 2013 @ 5:20pm
Well, some people say it's broken, but it works for me here, so I am still looking into why it's not working for some.

With regards to DLC, there won't ever be any DLC as Cubemen can't work with a DLC type system, but that doesn't mean there won't be future updates...

Glad to hear that there will future updates, I was also wondering if you were able to implement a Stats section in-game so we can see how many enemis we have killed and how many bonuses we have collected overall, stuff like that.

And was also wondering if there is a way to make it so bonuses spawn in user created levels or is that just for the main game?
SeonR  [developer] Jan 20, 2013 @ 6:58pm
Bonuses in user level (defense only) is on my list :-)
If you open the Achievements page (front menu) there are some basic stats in there as to kills and bonuses etc.
Ki11s0n3 Jan 20, 2013 @ 7:03pm
Alright will look into the stats thanks

can you plz add some way to make it where if one person destroyed all of ur stuff u dont have 0 dollars and have to wait for the little cube men to spawn only find that they get destroyed instantly and u have no chance. it seems unfair so maybe add some way to get money not just from destroying other peoples armys. maybe like a backround mine geting blocks or something like that so u dont wait to get destroyed.
thx you though for the game.

at first it seemed way too hard, couldn't finish the serpent level, but after searching for some tips i've been flying through the levels, and actually now i seem to be having a good time, the game is balanced enought, if you want a challenge just finish all the maps on platinum and play the other game modes on hard
