Be careful of what you wish for...
A lot of people (like me) have had to disable Steamcloud support for other games, because there is a tendency for it to screw up your save games royally. All you have to do is read some of the forums for those games that do have it, to see where I'm coming from (Dungeons of Dredmor for example).

Maybe if they could actually get it to work properly in a sensible way, then I'd be in favor of this. But it's a feature that causes far more problems and headaches than it should, at least for now. They could also change it to be opt-in rather than opt-out, I suppose.

Haldurson is right. I turned the cloud off for most games after numerous problems in games, for instance Borderlands 2, Dungeons of Dredmor, Darksiders 2 only to name a few. Just look in the forums of these games for all the posts.I too thought at first pah, all the others are wrong. In my games are no problems, for me it works. It seems as that all cloud services for games, eg. Steam, Ubisoft, Origin have many problems and are better be used as backup Nr.2 than to rely on them only. I make backups of my savegames for years and never had problems. Just use a USB Stick and copy the savegames after every milestone you reached in game to it. You can even make a BAT file to automate it. No hassle, and you are alwys sure that your saves are "safe".

Personally I love and use Steam cloud daily. I play on multiple computers so I actually need it. Sure there's the occasional problem with steam cloud, but there's the occasional problem with games regardless. That's just part of PC gaming.
