Dreamcast DLC Restoration and Continuation
----------------------------------
BACKGROUND and INFORMATION
----------------------------------
Been tinkering with an early build of JSR i got my hand on. Some left over/unused test DLC was on the disk so i decided to mess with it.

I was able to map and see how the DLC filesystem works and i successfully got the DLC to run and even duplicated it several times.

This being said, few hours later, DLC has been fully restored and compatible for Final Versions of the game and will now be continued to keep JSR Online functioning.

Jet Set Radio on SEGA NET was discontinued long ago (2004 i think) and all but 1 official DLC was lost. (Thanks to BLUE SWIRL for archiving it). Because of you, restoration was possible.

Comparing the Offical and Unused files let me see how the whole system works and how to expand it.

TECHNICAL
----------------------------------
Jet Set Radio DLC is unfortunately region locked. The Current DLC in testing is for Jet Grind radio but please note that future DLC will only suport the Japanese releases.

See compatability below:

[YES] -Jet Set Radio
[NO] -Jet Grind Radio
[NO] -Jet Set Radio (PAL)
[YES] -De La Jet Set Radio (DC Direct,Standard)
[YES] -Dorikore De La Jet Set Radio

Note that my DLC is not Official by sega, so you cannot install it from Jet Set Radio's Dial up. ....Yet.. ;)

Since it's not official, it will not work with the Official JSR VM application. ;'(

JSR automatically decompresses user created DLC. My DLC comes in HQ and LQ! Pick your poison. ...jam.. no? I'll stop. pause

INSTALL and REQUIRED TOOLS
---------------------------------
*I'm not responsible if you mess up your dreamcast* *READ CAREFULLY*
* THIS IS FOR THE DREAMCAST ONLY*

1. Dreamcast (Japanese Dreamcast (original model prefered))

** You can use a PAL or US Dreamcast but you will need a way to boot Japanese games **

2. Electricity
3. A controller
4. VMU with at least 25-100 blocks free
5. Dreamcast SD Reader (Port tool)
6. Burned copy of Dreamshell
7. Any Jet set radio listed above with a " [YES] "

// INSTALL //

1. On the root of your SD, make DIR: VMU/DLC/JSR/ (this is for organization)

2. In VMU/DLC/JSR/ put JETGRIND_Xx (x = number | X = size) into the folder

Repeat step 2 for multiple graffiti

3. DO NOT RENAME THE FILE AT ALL. (ESPECIALLY NOT JETGRIND_SMA LA or XLA)
This will register the file as if you created it in the editor and because it's too high quality, the game will crash. YOUR SAVE MAY BE DELETED!!!

I SWEAR IF YOU DO IT, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. I HOPE YOU CAN READ.

4. Position the SD Card into the Loader and put the loader in the back of your DC.

5. Turn on the DC. Make sure the loader's red light is ON.

6. If it's on, boot up dreamshell now.

7. In dreamshell, go to 'file explorer' and launch it.

8. in file explore, go to the tool bar on top and click 'dual mode'

9. in dual mode, on the bottom screen, open VMU/A1/

** if you get a black screen with white text, try again (it's harmless)**

10. If you did not get a black screen, on the top screen, open SD/VMU/DLC/JSR/

IF YOU DON'T SEE 'SD' REPOSITION THE SD READER.

11. Copy JETGRIND_Xx from SD/VMU/J... to VMU/A1/

** to copy files, click the file you want to copy. it will highlight in red. go to the top tool bar and click the paper. hit the check mark in the middle when it prompts and wait 5 seconds.

12. If the bottom screen shows JETGRIND_Xx, you did it correctly

13. Turn off the dreamcast and go to the main menu

14. In the VMU browser, you should see the save. it will be a yellow icon.

It Should Say: "[size][type][name DLC] DATA" and under it "JETGRIND_Xx JET_GRAFFITI_X"

15. Boot JSR and go to the graffiti menu.

16. Look for the 'DL' icon in the menu for the Graf size you picked. Make sure the vmu your using has the file we just copied on it... (duh)

17. if it shows.. click it..

If it works, the music will stop and the image will show.

If you messed up:

1. This is not for you, stop now.
2. it will read "This Data cannot be used, bummer huh?"

IF IT WORKED, CONGRATS! Now we can all live in a world of DLC and i'll keep releasing new packs.
