Oh, how do you know?

Please, please link to your source.

Many of us would like independant reliable reassurance about the future of Daybreak. :steamsad:

Can see it on updates to that article now. And the main studio that was affected was H1Z1 which was gutted and goes with the reasons of that game failing. Planetside 2 was unaffected (as per devs on reddit), EverQuest 2 didn't lose anyone major, and I don't see really anyone gone from EverQuest which means it is unaffected.

Will see what continues to happen. I hope things look up, but I don't have much hope even with that news.

Saw the same updates.

QuantumZebra sounded like he had information well before the event.

Even if its H1Z1 related and nothing to do with Columbus Nova, that is just icing on the cake. This whole situation is a mess, and puts the company in a very bad situation reputation wise regardless what the truth is about everything.

Really, rather have the IPs owned by a better company..

I agree. But sadly, the worst case scenario: If their assets are frozen, they will not be able to sell them off, and the only option is to shut them all down (if my understanding of how frozen assets work is accurate).

I had seen rumors of Intrepid Studios wanting to buy, but they declined to comment on the rumor.

Here is a fun article: https://thinkprogress.org/why-is-video-game-distancing-from-michael-cohen-and-vekselberg-ab24e04f0a82/

And this close to Christmas/holidays. As a friend put it though, they are probably better off working somewhere else. I seen a few companies posting telling them all to apply. Hopefully they will all find something quickly.

Tbh daybreak hasn't even produced a solid game (if anyone at all?) since taking over. They have just been piggy backing off what another company created and then attempted to add onto it. My predictions is they will end up selling the rights to all the games in 2019. Another company will take over and we'll go from there. They tried way too hard to cash grab with micro transactions on top of a monthly sub and there is way too many better alternatives currently for a flat sub where you get all the mechanics of a game for 15$ a month. Most of their updates are micro transactions updates. Any actual content that's new is in the form of 34.99 DLC, otherwise there is no free in between content + a sub + specifically speaking of everquest you even have to pay for mercs seperately. Coming from someone who spent about 400 bucks over the last few years until i said "No not anymore, thats it, this is absurd". Too many modern games are offering so much content for a flat 15$ a month sub with free content updates and when a DLC does drop, its huge and well worth your time. Layoffs (regardless if it was a different department, tells you they cant even maintain what they have now), 90% of any of their updates are telling you to buy limited time marketplace items. They are in bare bones mode now to make cash. This is your red flags. I love EQ1, but yeah this is a salt post that they ran the games we loved as kids into the ground. Go check the server status on any of their games. People are moving along now because there is simply better alternatives for your dollar. I logged in today actually and got slammed with "you cant do this and that" because i was unsubbed and immediately uninstalled. The things I had paid for and got slammed with annoying pop ups to spend my cash and get all access. Yeah I'll get hate for posting this, but this is coming from an EQ fanboy and I'm just giving people a heads up to not invest in this mess. They made a game from 1999, more expensive to play then most AAA title MMORPG's /slowclap

Agree but what the hell have they been doing with all the new hires since taking over!!

Seriously, as I cannot understand their long term plans apart from loot boxes, etc.

That is apparently who was mostly laid off, those working on new games.

What games?

All I heard was talk about making mobile games mainly but even that does not seem to have panned out.

They were never announced, but they were on a hiring spree a while back for unannounced projects (it was all over their website). The new Planetside that is coming soon is the only one that has made it, but I never looked much into that one.
