I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit with the newest NVIDIA drivers (v313.09).
EDIT: I just managed to launch it by changing the resolution to 1024x768. I was running it in a slightly higher one before.
EDIT 2: Crashed after I finished tracing a wave, and can't boot it back up again now.
I don't know if it really was the fact that I was set to Offline, but maybe others could try this? Set your profile to Offline (Friends List > Little Arrow next to your name > Offline) and test whether it solves the problems for you, too. Another idea would be disabling the Steam Community features by right-clicking the game in the Library and changing the setting on the front page of the Properties.
The new problem I have is that the achievement pop-ups will instead happen outside the window, and I lose focus on the Waveform window - but the game automatically pauses, so I can resume it without any problems.
I just got past Neptune. I really love the soundtrack and graphics, it's an amazing game - especially now that it stopped crashing all the time.
