Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

This game sucks!
I don't usually write up negative comments but I have to say that this game annoyed me very much. Here are a few of the reasons that it bothered me:

1. Strangely written story and dialouge (is that my character talking or being talked to or am I imagining it?).
2. Puzzles with solutions that seem a little vauge or pointless (clicking on trees? rubbing stones? really?).
3. Character takes forever to walk the landscape.
4. Sloooooooooooow boss battles that I have to start from the beginning if I fail (see triangle boss).

This game seems to empasize style over fun. Yes, it's very artistic and stylistic (I'm ok with that), but damn is it boring to play! Also, this game seems targeted towards touch screens and not desktops. I quit playing after the failing the triangle boss 2 times (and I usually don't quit that easily in a game). The whole experience is just "rubbing" me the wrong way (pun intended). I'm uninstalling it now.

Ever heard of something called a "point n click adventure game"? Its a game where you click on things to solve puzzles, and are told a story.

You have a few games in your library that classify as adventure games, but with very low play time (Monkey Island, the best Adventure game ever made has 0.1 of an hour played).

The point of Sword & Sworcery is to be an adventure game that was designed for the iPhone in mind. All the text in the game can be tweeted. As a result, theres a lot of it, and its weirdly phrased intentionally to have character that sets it apart from other games.

The puzzles are designed to be like "spot the difference" games, and aren't vague at all, and have a point (summoning sprites up to calm the storm to slay the beast).

Character speed can be controlled how you click and use your mouse. Boss battles are designed to be epic (in the original sense of the word), and stressful (unlike most modern boss battles).

You might have gotten the wrong type of game for you. Looking through your steam profile you have 84 hours on Just Cause, combined 127 hours on the Borderlands games, and 104.9 hours on the Darksiders games.

Not to say anything about your game choices, everyone likes what they like, but your highest played games are more in the "twitchy high paced action" category. An adventure game like S&S, especially with its drastically different style to something like Monkey Island might not be your cup of tea, which is fine, but you can't just drop the "IT SUCKS BECAUSE I SAY SO" on it without doing a little bit of research into what you are getting into.
@PurpleMoustache (like your name BTW) Half of my collection is in physical format. That's where most of my adventure game are - Syberia, Longest Journey, several Lucas Arts classics, etc... But you are correct, action-adventure is more my style.

I said this game "SUCK" and I listed out my reasons for my arguement (unlike other threads that just leave it at that). I believe there is another thread that called this game "hipster trash". I have to agree (and I don't even really know what that means). Also, this game was given to me so I really didn't do any "research".

PS - One other thing that bothered me (that I forgot to mention). Why do I need to click the "sword" icon to use my sword and click the "shield" icon to use my shield? My mouse has about 10 buttons on it and the game only makes use of just 2? Yeah, this game SUCKS!
You don't have to click sword/shield icons, but you surely can. It is so, because this game was designed for iOS devices and their touchscreens, as mentioned by PurpleMoustache. But in case that you might like to press rather than click, you can use keyboard and my personal favourite keys Z and X, for using shield and sword respectively (or even . and / ). Not that I got much hope that this info will un-SUCK the game for you, just pointing it out for those who might find it usefull and more convenient to control fights this way.
Ad hominems are super effective. I don't even own this game and your review actually makes me want to buy it. I'm sure that's not your intent.
gotta agree with op..this game is very very boring..
Checking profiles to see what game types you play the most on steam says where such opinions came from and its relevance to particular reader. I found couple of really good (and bad) games this way. Don't get me wrong, I honestly believe that you will find something new and entertaining in every moment of fps-ing in CS/TF2 etc, even after thousand hours of pure gameplay time. Anyway for me S: S&S EP is relaxing exploration game (i.e. lite action-adventure in the spirit of 90s) with awesome audio, while some action stages do require quick fingers and as such they suddenly change the pace of game for a moment. However it is not very long game if you so insist to beat it in one sitting/weekend, which even the narrator advises you against.
this game is awesome, you suck at playing it
