No video when connected to receiver via HDMI?
This game plays perfectly when connected to the monitor directly, but when I go to play it through my home theater, its just a blank screen, but with audio. Every other Steam game works just fine...

I'm only guessing, but maybe the resolution you have it set-at when connected to your monitor (which you say works fine) is not a compatible screen-size resolution setting for your home-theater. Perhaps try choosing a lower screen-size resolution before trying to view it on your home-theater.

Thanks LoneWolf. I've alway used 1080p for everything, including Dear Esther. Is there a way to get into the config settings to change it?

Well, I assumed that you could change the resolution when you had it plugged directly into your monitor, then when you switch-over to your home-theater it would remember those settings you put it.

However, I did a little "homework" for you and I found out how to manually change the settings without needing to launch the program;

Navigate to where you have Dear Ester installed and find the "cfg" folder;
(I give an example path below, but it could be different according to where you have Steam installed on your computer):

C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\dear esther\dearesther\cfg

Find and make a backup copy of the "video.txt" file within that folder.

Open the video.txt file (Windows Notepad or some other simple text editor utility should do);

There are two lines of code you can manually change to put in the resolution for width and height, here's an example from mine;

"setting.defaultres" "1680"
"setting.defaultresheight" "1050"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Change those numbers to something else that you think should be a compatible resolution with your home-theater then save. If the new resolution setting you put in doesn't work, try a different one.
If something gets messed-up, remember you have the backup copy you made that you can revert to.
Below is an example list of typical monitor resolutions one might choose from (though I don't know if all resolutions are supported by Dear Esther and/or your Monitor / Home-Theater and Graphics-card);
A list of monitor resolutions both wide screen (16:9, 16:10) and normal (4:3):
