SOLVED* Game won't install/update - content file locked
I uninstalled CK2 after reverting to an older version and forgetting how to go back to the current version. Now I'm reinstalling the game, and once it finishes it says:

An error occured while updating Crusader Kings 2 (content file locked):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010installscript.vdf

When I look at the file, it has no indication there's anything different about it, except when I click on it it says access is denied.

Can anyone help me with this? I have no idea on how to fix this.

EDIT: it appears the file is actually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\installscript.vdf, so that means that I may have a second hurdle to jump.

Did you tried verifying the integrity of the files?

If don't know how to do it, just right-click on the game on your steam library and then, go to properties. There should be an option to verify the integrity of the files.

It says:

"all files successfully validated"

I think not.

If after doing that error still appears, i don't know how to solve it... Maybe on the Paradox official forums?

Have you tried changing ownership of the file (right click, prop, secutiry tab...google the rest for step by step)? Does anyone else use the computer?

No, it's my personal laptop. But I think that may work, thank you.
EDIT: I have ownership of the folder/file, yet access is still denied.

Did you tried installing in a different folder or HD partition?

When you try to install a game on steam, you can change the destination folder.

How do I do that?

Click on the Steam menu, on the upper left corner of the screen and then, select properties. From there, click on the downloads tab. The first button is to manage your content library or something like that(my steam isn't in english, so i don't know for sure how is translated in english), and then you can choose different folders to save your stuff.

After doing that, just try reinstalling the game, when you click on the install button, there is a drop down menu where you can choose the other folder.

edit: Oops, when on the steam menu, there is no properties, instead click on configuration and then do as i said.

Hmm. For some reason, it won't add the folder, even when I switched from C: to D:, it wouldn't add it. However, I just repaired the Steam folder, I'll see if that did anything.

EDIT: Nvm, I was able to add a folder from D:

whenever i get this sort of thing, i just delete the file and then verify integrity, which should identify the file that's missing and re-download it.
