Statistiche:
Please imporve 4x SSAA performance on various systems
Dear Support,

I have GTX 580 and I still can not turn on SSAA 4x. Because my Freams fropes from 28-40 to 11-14. Please reduce that SSAA huge of power need!. Please improve 4x SSAA Hardware performance. I can play on Ultra. But I can not use that SSAA.

MY System:
Intel Q6600 2.4 GHZ
GTX 580 3GB
RAM 5 GB
WIN 8 PRO

ps: please who can turn on SSAA 4x and what System do you have!?

I don't know why. I'm running the game on ultra (textures) and ssaa 4x on a gtx650ti quad core 9550 2.8, 8gb ram ddr2 win vista. your intel is duo or quad core? have you activated shadows, lights, etc on ultra? it consumes a lot of potenciancial. Pherhaps you should try to variate the configuration in many aspects to normal to be able to use the ssaa4x. good luck
it is quad core. I can play on maximum except SSAA 4x is off.
I guess my cpu is bad
upgrade to sli mate simple as

This is either a Nvidia dirver or Crystal Dynamics problem I don't think Steam can do anything patch wise as it is only a vendor.

My System:
AMD Phenom II X4 970
ATI 7870
8 GB DDR2
WIN 7 Home

4x SSAA is a real performance killer even on powerful rigs. FXAA should be fine if you can play it smoothly at that setting. I'd rather play it smoothly and have slightly less sharp graphics than crank up the AA and have a choppy framerate.

Super Sampling is done by the graphics hardware, the cpu should play no role in it and CD can not 'fix' it. Just lower you AA setting.
Please improve the SSAA 4X option...

That is for NVidea to improve, as it's completely handled in the gpu.
Do you guys have problems with SSAA 4X ??? I have GTX 580 and if it is on then it is 13-15 Freams
SSAA is a pretty significant performance killer in general. On my 7970 / 3570k setup I get a pretty constant 70-110 FPS using FXAA with everything maxed out except hair quality (normal), DOF and motion blur (both off, looks better imo). However when I enable 4x SSAA my FPS drops to around 40-60. Essentially halves my framerate to slightly improve the smoothness of jagged lines on objects and NPCs - not even close to being worth it. Honestly, the difference between FXAA and SSAAx4 is fairly subtle anyways.

On pretty much any setup you're going to be better off skipping heavy anti-aliasing. This is true for TR as well as most games. It's just not worth the performance hit.

That is the way Anti Aliasing works. A picture much bigger than needed is rendered and then reduced to the screen size. You like to play in full HD 1920 x 1080 and 2 x AA? Then every frame is 2 * 1920 wide and 2 * 1080 high. You like to use 4 x AA? Then every rendered frame is 4 * 1920 = 7680 wide and 4 * 1080 = 4320 pixels high. No wonder your GFX hardware struggles around with that.
Indees, SS AA specifically renders the original image at higher res and samples it down, unlike MSAA, for eg. It will always be a huge system hog. And for most cases probably only makes sense if playing on a 720p display.
You will never get this form of AA to work efficiently. Turn the AA option to FXAA and call it a day.
