Sleeping Dogs - Windows 8 *FIX*

Hey all, I have seen some messages on social media and here on the forums about people having difficulties getting this game to work on Windows 8.

The only think you have to do is download the DirecX redistributables.
You can find those here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Now, make sure to REBOOT your computer. It's important, that game will not boot if you don't reboot your computer after installing the binaries. The game should work marvellously after this.

Thanks for the tip, but this hasn't fixed my issue. My issue is that game starts and plays ok and then randomly the screen goes from full screen to windowed mode and the windows contents are all black. I can hear sound suggesting the game is playing ok but all I can see if a completely black window.

My hardware is OK, I'm running a Windows 8 PC, with an i7 3770k (at stock speed), Asus Sabretooth Z77 mobo, 8gb 1600mhz RAM, HD 6990 GPU. The game ran fine on the same hardware until I upgraded to Windows 8.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, I've not got much left to finish the game?

I have the same problem with an i5-3570k, UD5h and a HD5770

did you do an upgrade or clean install of windows 8? I did a clean install ("reset") and the game runs fine for me

I've got a GTX570 and all other PC requirements to play this game and i hve the same problem.

I went from a NV570 to a AMD7950 and i now have no problems oh and i'm running WIN7

Still no way to get it work in full screen. Game keeps stuck in Windowed mode whatever things I do (rebooting, DirectX re-install, pray...).
Performances in windowed mode are not great even modifying video settings.
If I find something I will post back
