- What do you think?
-Dunno. Kinda dead.
-Yeah, definetly dead.
- Dead.
- Okay. Lets get the hell out of here.
-Caroline?
-Yes?
-Would you use your supa-mega-titanfalla'-halo-killa-deadspacebusta suit to kill remaining Nazis?
-Sure darling!
Besides, it's BJ Blazkowicz, who cares if he's alive or dead? He's the dude from Wolfenstein and that series has been rebooted 3 times already, so they can just bring him back or not next time. It really doesn't matter. It's like if they killed Doomguy in the next Doom.

Raven likely had plans for where the series would go afterwards but apparently the game didn't sell enough. It seems like they were planning on doing something similar to New Order where a 4th Reich would rise to threaten the world post WWII.
Between the 5 year hiatus, the new style of gameplay, the re-imagining of the main character, and everything by two character names and one line of dialog ... The New Order is totally a reboot.
