High % shots missing all the time
Just wanting to know if any of you other players are seeing this. I've played a ton of turned based games like these even played hours on the original Xcom. I noticed a slight degree of misses even high % misses if you played a higher level of difficulty game.

I tend to always go for the hardest difficulty setting and Iron-man. But with XCOM2 I've noticed crazy amount of misses during very high percentage attempts.

For Example Roof top shots to flanked targets (90-99%) Missing more often than hitting. Ranger sword attacks 88% and higher missing more often than hitting.

What finally got me off my butt to post this was my last attempt at Legendary / iron-man settings and I had all 4 soldiers with 85% or higher attempts miss. So just wondering if anyone else is seeing this?

Maybe something is off in the code or they did it intentionally to make that setting harder. Meaning it might say 90% but what it really means is 30% I'm not sure.

Thanks,

Update again just did another Legend/ironman and had 5 shots in a row all 65% or higher miss. I get bad luck but this seems a bit off.

Again tons of 65% or higher shots missed in the first Legend / Iron man run through.

THATS XCOM BABY!
Pretty sure its just xcom messing with us, if you go watch totalbicuits wtf is xcom2, he misses a 100% shot, not even kidding. Also ♥♥♥♥ thin men and thier ridiculous hit percentage. :angry_creep:

ahh so sorry to bother, I went to the Xcom2 boards and saw that. You have to think its the devs messing with the gamers. It's nuts, how many misses back to back we get all high %. then they will tag one of my guys in full cover with no flank lol cracks me up.
Unless it is 100%, it will miss sometimes. It can even miss frequently due to bad luck and spiteful RNG, but if you do it enough the numbers shouldn't lie.

Just know that if you *really* need a 99% shot to hit, it will always miss, so have a back up plan involving explosives.

Oh thats why. I have a couple of troops completely hidden behind full cover and they still get hit by a thin man. And so I thought I had bad luck when they appear at 3 tiles in front of my sniper doing overwatch, shooting at a standing still thin man but no hit. WTF!?

The displayed chances are definititvely bogus.
My 4 man team regulary misses 45% shoots. All 4 of them in a row.

The propabily for 4 45% rolls to all fail is:
55% chance to fail the first roll
30% chance to fail the first and second roll
16% chance for 3 missises on three rolls
9% chance to miss all 4 rolls

In other worsd if I take 4x 45% shoots 100 times on average:
91% of the cases at least one has to hit.

I don't mind it cheating. I DO mind it actively LYING to me about my chances. How am I supposed to make a informed decision if the data given to me is actively missleading?
And the part on it cheating for me is not true. The same thing happens on easy and normal.

How is a general supposed to make decision if everyone in his staff is lying about the position of his and the enemy forces?

The game as it is right now is a prime example on how not to make a strategie game and not to work with random chance.
If I liked to play a guessing game, I would not have bought a strategie game.
For me it's the rocket launcher going off target, of the 60 or so times i used it in the campaign, it went off target at least 20 of those times, usually just when i found a group of khrysalis or a sectopod and its gang. As you can imagine it is incredibly frustrating, but it does serve to raise the tension of the game, as i bite my nails instead of yelling 'HOOAH' when the guy fires the rocket launcher!

No it doesn't. On Easy and Normal, yes, it cheats in your favor. On Classic and Impossible there is NO cheating. a 50% shot is a 50% shot, regardless of what side takes it.

The RNG has been tested several dozen times, it works exactly as advertised.
