How is this different from Wallpaper Engine?

If it doesn't do anything different, I don't need a bunch of similar programs, but if it does do something different, would be nice to know what that is.

I have never used Wallpaper Engine so I can't say for certain what the differences are. Based off of what I do know though, if you already own Wallpaper Engine or are willing to spend their small asking price you are probably better off with Wallpaper Engine. I initially didn't intend to release this program publicly as it started out as a personal project to set my desktop to a video/gif without having to buy Wallpaper Engine, therefore it does not come with a lot of the extra features such as an editor or time/sound synchronization. I only chose to release on to Steam as I was working on the program and I realized other people may want to animate their desktop for free as well.

If you have any suggestions for features that you think would be interesting for me to add though, please let me know.

Well, here you can find some links that will lead you to questionable sites that rip wallpapers from WE, or you can find some wallpapers from this dev's alt, he also ripped some from WE, sure, I can't say that this is 100% his alt, but come on, similar nickname and he posts to the workshop of an unreleased app. @TREE_INDUSTRIES, can you say you never used WE now? If you want this to be something more than a WE rip-off, you need to put more effort.

Now, after saying all of this, I want to make clear that I don't ♥♥♥♥ on this app or it's developer just for the sake of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on someone or because he made something that already been done, I want you, dev, to think about what you want to do with this project, if you hope you'll get some easy money off of this, then it's probably won't happen, but if it's a passion project, then good luck, because you sure as hell need one. Also stop copy-pasting from WE, be it workshop or a documentation.

I am a college student who made this as a personal project to see if I could create something of similar functionality. I have not used Wallpaper Engine and am only familiar of it's features through its Steam store page. All I'm seeking to do is offer a free service for setting your desktop to a gif/video as I had wanted prior to starting this. This is pretty much the extent of my program as far as features go. As I have stated previously, if you already own Wallpaper Engine or are willing to pay for it, you are likely better off with it.

Nah it's full of Asian warez and porn. Free is good. I don't know if you know, but there were 3 other programs that were taken off the Steam Store for user file shares abuse in workshops, warez and porn, and 1 other that had its workshop disabled for the same. Valve seems to let Wallpaper Engine have a free pass to be abused with user content that against the rules and guidelines, warez porn, sexual acts CGI / drawn and IRL porn videos stolen straight from porn sites uploaded to Steam.

So best of luck. If your apps gets inundated with user content against the rules, look for :♥♥♥♥: to hit the fan. Seems what's good for Wallpaper Engine is apparently not good enough for any of the others. And I take it that you don't have being a former Steam Moderator under your belt, either for Valve showing you a little favoritism, nepotism. like one of the WPE Team devs.

Good Luck. I like your app. It would be a shame to see it succumb to the same fate some others have.
