Hiker felt great in the new patch

I won the first run I played today, I guess it wasn't only that Hiker is a lot better but also that enemies got nerfed, but anyways, I had a really easy run, I even rejected Power Generator because I didn't want to have that advantage

I also won today's first try of the Captain, he still felt difficult, I almost died in both wave 19 and 20, I didn't have a lucky run at all, I mean, getting rocket lunchers is kinda lucky but still, my winning run with Captain before the patch felt better.

Still, I'm sure I only won because of the patch, so thanks for that.

He's not weak like I thought, but he is very stale due to how restrictive the penalty is. I wish they'd have done something thematic like give him curse for each looter killed instead of dumping him with a massive damage penalty. Even taking it down to -2% would make you consider which items to take multiples of.

I guess we can forget that we're being beta testers, I know I wasn't thinking "well, this is going to be changed" when I needed to play pacifist with him

Does not compute.
Of the three (melee, ranged, elemental), elemental is obviously the weakest due to elemental being what it is: bunch of burning spreaders, no damage support, better as melee and then there's the lone icicle.
The other two types are strong.

I think hiker is still one of the hardest characters (at least it's the one I have the most trouble with) The reduction in material dropped is not quite compensated by the materials from walking, even if you do everything you can to increase speed. But I think the main problem is that you do not get xp by walking, so the character essentially gets half every other character's xp.
For this what you get is a bit more move speed, and a few max hp. I think to be fair the walking bonus should give xp.

Just go lances and stack speed and dodge
here you can see some tips if you want to do damage hiker

Ok, sure, that works. My point still stands though, we are just abusing lance's strength. The same build would probably work better on, say, the well-rounded. For a build that is entirely built upon speed, that is a bit sad.

But he is not one of the hardest I was trying to say, he is just pretty much speedy 2.0 , I haven't tried a more passive approach with Hands or something I find those boring

Speedy was very strong with other melee weapons too. But you are right, I just needed to stop only trying to play the hiker with hiking poles, and it's pretty doable.

Agreed. Losing half your experience for two middling bonuses is not worth it. The Hiker is easily my most disliked of the new classes and once I have the achievements, I'll never play as him again. I think if they wanted to buff him, they should either get rid of the experience penalty or at minimum, have him start with a walking stick. It makes zero sense why he doesn't start with one.
