Taash introduction is patently, intellectually STUPID.
Preface; I like the game. That said...

I have to ask if the writers intentionally made Taash a f*cking idiot or if this is really supposed to be taken seriously.

I go there because I am looking for a Dragon Hunter. Taash is a Dragon Hunter. Taash knows this. Rook literally makes this a point and then Taash asks what Rook does and then Rook spills the beans about blighted dragons.

...then Taash says "That's messed up! Someone needs to stop them!"

Are. You. F*cking. Kidding. Me.

This is the whole point of me being here you moron. Is this SERIOUSLY what this idiot is saying?

I am bookmarking this video as a favorite. Thank you! Now I can live vicariously through other's mental pain because of this asinine situation.

Yeah either the dialogue was written by AI or the writers have never talked to a living person.

It's not just Taash, I'm sorry to say. Every companion, npc and even Rook display this level of mental ineptitude throughout the course of the game. In fact, this is hardly the worst example.

I've been enjoying the game quite a bit, but because of the writing I'm not enjoying it anywhere near as much as I could have. It's downright frustrating.

Taash is flat out one of the worst companions I've ever encountered in an RPG that isn't blatantly tongue in cheek meant to come off as annoying and stupid.

It's like the person who wrote her intentionally made her so bad out of spite. I cannot wrap my head around anyone thinking they're a passable character.

Everyone's entitled to their (informed) opinion, and I won't begrudge you yours, but to my tastes Neve is far, far worse. Maybe that's more due to her VA being utterly lacking in talent and/or direction.

Your opinion is subjectively and objectively wrong. Taash is absolutely the worst.

Cool story, bro.

Taash seems like a later addition to the cast, based on the way dialog goes in meetings. At least so far in chapter 9?

The few dialogs that makes sense, seems to not match the overall personality, like it was written for another character?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Given the development shambles this game went through, though, I'm guessing it was a mad scramble to cobble together the best game they could, given what they had on hand.

I'm pretty sure Taash was the first addition of all the companions. They needed to cross some checkboxes right off the bat.

The problem is just how do you represent something like that without at the same time doing it justice. Which you really cant. Hence the dialog that seems so bad its unreal - when it is in fact just realistic for one of those.
David Gaider, main Dragon Age writer, apparently worked on Dread Wolf, then left, leaving the new writer/team free to make Veilguard. So it makes more sense, that Taash is a later edition, then a first one. Unless thats the reason Gaider left...

It would also explain why some of the story feels like Dragon Age, while other parts dont.

i think i can agree many of the ideas has mr gaider's touch over it and from his logs i think we can agree that he is in similar wavelength to the dav writers.

i think we can only see if the writing has gone downhill from the start, by checking how good/bad exodus' writing/story is.

I honestly don't get what you mean. Taash did not have an in depth fill in of what the situation is so her/their reaction is genuine to learning about blighted dragons. We don't know what was transferred to them previously through Harding.

I will say their introduction felt a bit abrupt, I would expect a little more time between visiting the area and meeting Taash but that's just a detai. I enjoyed the Rivain story.

It's the same with Bellara, Emmrich and Davrin.

Bellara is given some time at least. Emmrich yeah true and Davrin also has a cutscene with that couple of gray wardens before he appears. But I suppose the developers did not want you battling out with just one companion at any point in the game so they introduce the new companion right from the top so the action can begin ?
