Statement Regarding Compatibility on Windows 7 / 8
Currently, Crazy Machines 2 only runs properly on Windows XP / Vista. In some test environments the game was able to launch on Windows 7 but would freeze at the loading screen. Neither of my machines running Windows 7 was able to run the download versions of this game, or the physical copies of it. Running the Phys X driver download package from the Nvidia website did not solve the issue.

With this being said - there are vast amounts of hardware environments out there and it's difficult to determine which ones will work and which ones won't.

If you find yourself unable to run the game on Windows 7 check some of the troubleshooting tips here: http://support.encore.com/technicalsupport/product_detail.aspx?product_id=3131

If at all these don't apply to you , you can submit a troubleshooting ticket here: http://support.encore.com/technicalsupport/tech_support_frm.aspx?product_id=3131

And if you are able to run the game on Windows 7 - Please list the video card you are using. This will help determine compatibility with this program within Windows 7 / 8.

Encore technical support is very busy at times and not reply right away or may experience longer then usual response times. Could you please add me as a friend on Steam , then private message me your first and last name plus email you used when sending a ticket so I can follow up on this? Thank you very much :)

Tech support has told me that you just recently submitted a trouble ticket - Please allow at least 72 hours for the reply.

Thank you :)

Hi,

This looks like an interesting game. If it was on a free weekend trial thingy I'd be tempted to download it to see if I could get it running, but as this is a Windows 8.1 machine, I'm not forking out for a game I may never be able to play.

Wonder how many bought it not checking here first.

I'm on 7x64, game runs great (with three exceptions: Steam overlay doesn't work, the "football" overlay giving experiment goals lags behind the voice, and the game sometimes crashes when starting; I attribute two of those to Steam).

GFX is an AMD Radeon HD 7520G.

OpenAL and PhysX are the ones supplied in the game distribution. If you lack the two directories, you probably don't have a valid install of the game (there was a problem a while back where one of the depots weren't being delivered; this resulted in people (like myself) getting all the addons for the game, but not the base game itself).

EDIT: I should also maybe mention that this is both without compatability mode or admin running.

I bought it not checking here first...

Thinking that it MUST be compatible with all operating systems... The game has been out for quite a while now and I assumed that the developers would surely have been diligent about making sure that the game worked on all platforms?

Well, I installed the game to find out that nothing happens when you start the game. The very first time I started it I got a window to click okay(agreement, I assume), which errored out when I clicked. (This window has never been seen again)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and run in and out of compatibility mode several times and nothing happens when I try to start the game.
When I go into the game files and try to run cm2.exe, it says that PhysXLoader.dll is not installed on my computer. I tried reinstalling several times, to no avail.

What can I do to fix this?
I was really excited about the game and would love to be able to play it, finally!

-Matthew.

Heh, took a gamble after looking at various threads saying it'd been fixed kinda-sorta. End of the day people spend more on a pack of 10 cigs round here than this game costs, so I figured; 'what the hell' and bought it.

After installing and asking if I'd run some other installers etc. it ran fine. Got the full pack at the discount rate and tried Crazy Machines Golden Gears first, then tried Crazy Machines 2. Both worked fine after they installed the various extras they needed.

@Buddhafist: Hmm, sounds like you didn't get a full download of the game. That seems to happen from time to time according to the various forum discussions.

Check you've got it all, then try again. It'll need to install DirectX 9, PhysX and... I forget the third item, but then they run fine.

I'm using a Asus ROG G750JZ and it all runs fine.

I'm very interested to hear from more people on this issue - I don't want to come to any conclusion until I find a pattern here, I am taking notes looking for similarities to submit to the QA team to look into :)

I downloaded the Physx file from Nvidia and tried to run the game. It still is not working...

Tried the same troubleshooting as before and this time got the error

Application Load error 5:0000065434
eewec.ourbyni May 12, 2014 @ 1:57am
Goggle search on that error number tells me you've installed the game somewhere other than the default steam directory.

This game is tempramental; I can well imagine this is another steam game where the installation manager has been half baked and doesn't know where anything is.

There are some handy hints as to how to overcome this problem in the Fallout: New Vegas -> General Discussion forums here on Steam.

Only other thing that might be happening is a corrupt install. You can check that by verifying the install in the games properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game cache...

EDIT:
Hmm. Been thinking about the 'issues' with this game. I wonder how many people who are having difficulty with it also changed the installation location?

I didn't have a single problem and I left the installation location as the steam directory (which I installed where I wanted my games anyway).

Would be interesting to see if that's an issue that's 'merely' complicating things, or is actually the root cause.

I had previously installed everything steam on a dedicated harddrive. The last time I installed it I put it on my ssd just to see if that would improve it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled on the second harddrive and it works fine!!

To recap, in order to fix this problem I had to Download PhysX, (Google Physx download) and reinstall.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Hey I found a solution for Win 7 / 8
Run the game as Win XP. I'll show you how

1st, go to your CM² location
2nd, right click cm2.exe and go to compatibility
3rd, go to run this program with the compatibilitymode, tick the box and set it to Windows XP Service Pack 3

Thats it, I hope I could help you.

Runs fine on my 1st gen i5 w/ 4GB ram running 7 64bit with a RADEON 6870.

I haven't played much of the game yet, but I was able to beat the first level of the tutorial fine on Win7 64x and I haven't seen a single problem yet. I didn't need to download anything to make it run. I use an Nvidia Geforce Gtx 650. Hopefully I don't have any problems in the future.
