Phoneme Lip-sync WILL NOT WORK!!!
I have a .wav file that I'm trying to lip-sync a tf2 model to. Just so you know:
It is a HWM model
I did the "Show Waveforms" thing.
The model's "face" is selected
And "extract phonemes from .wav" is checked.

PLEASE HELP! this is a major setback!

Is your wav file 16 bit or 24 bit? We proved through another dission that wavs have to be 16bit

I get this whenever I use a character model I didn't record. Any ideas?

Yup!!! Your model is probably not a HWM model...

Is your audio a wav or a MP3? If wav is it 16 or 32 kbit(??) It must be a wav and 16 or under to work.

Right. The audio file has to be a 16-bit 44khz WAV file, MP3s don't allow for lip sync. You also have to be sure you've seleted the correct shot before selecting the model in the animation set editor.

If it still doesn't work, check to make sure if your model has "phonemes" preset groups by right clicking its animation set > show in element viewer > animationSet, then in the element viewer check if there is an array called presetGroups, which when expanded contains three DME preset groups, namely emotion, phoneme and viseme. If they are missing, try importing a new model, this time making sure it's the HWM model, and see if this one does have the preset groups.

If it does, copy your old model's animation samples onto the new one and delete the old one. You should now be able to lip sync him.

If it doesn't, there may be something wrong with your SFM installation. Try validating your cache files, relaunching SFM, and importing a new HWM model in a new project, see if this one works.
