SFM - Model Issues
I recently downloaded a few models that I want to use in Source Filmmaker. However, when I select the file to open, the render image is a flashing red "error" message and a small insert of text reading " No ,mdl files ".

If the problem is that the files I want to use are not in the correct ".mdl" format, is there a way I can transfer the files to the correct format? Is there any way I will be able to use these files? Please help.

Thank you.

That means that there are no models. If they are .mdl, that means they aren't in a directory, or change the one you are searching in.
Well, I downloaded the models but they aren't in .mdl format. I opened "Create Animation Set for New Model." The Mod Filter was All Mods, and when I clicked on the model it had the Red Glowing Error thingy. They're there, but they aren't acessible.

Sorry if I'm sounding redundant.

if they aren't .mdl they won't work. what are they? .smd? .obj? .max? .blend? what?
Well, the files all have 3 in different formats. As an example, I downloaded a model for Sora off of Models Resouce. There is a folder titled Sora, and insied are 3 files are Sora.dae, Sora.mtl, and Sora.obj.
This appears to apply to all the other files as well.
The only models that will work in SFM must be in Valve Model Format. If you are trying to import models that are not compiled to work in the Source Engine, they will not work unless you decompile them to a source format that is known by a 3D editor that can export smd or dmx Valve Source Model formats. Then they and their Skins converted to have to be compiled to Valve Model Format.

The Sora files you have downloaded are in a format that can be imported to a 3D editor. They are not Valve compatible as they are now. End of story.

Thank you. Can you tell me what kind of 3D editor I may be able to use in order to utilize the files in SFM?
Blender, Maya, and 3DS Max. But all have a HUGE learning curve. Not for the faint of heart.
Thank you. Will the aforementioned allow me to convert the file formats to .mdl?

basically, yes, though there are a couple more steps.

BTW, which Sora? from Kingdom hearts? if so there is a model pack on sfmbox.com with a crap load of KH models, all ready to go.
Kingdom Hearts. I got the models from Model Resource, but I'll look into the sfmbox site. Thanks!
