As long as you aren't using copy righted material other than what you have permission to use...

The same rules as for maiking money would apply...

Q. Can I make money with this tool?

Yes, but not if you’re using Valve’s assets in your movie. The tool is free for non-commercial use. You can use Valve’s game assets (things like characters, props, particles, textures, and sounds) to create movies and images to share with the game community, as long as what you create is free. We’re not giving you a license to commercialize our assets. However, if you do not include any of Valve’s assets in the movies and images that you make, then there are no restrictions on what you do with your content and you can make money with it.

Not if you're using copy righted material, unless you have permission.

TF2 Characters = NOPE!! DOTA2 Characters = NOPE unless you get permission from valve to use them... It's spelt out in the FAQ I posted.

No need to be sorry, Just read the post I made... Valve is VERY strict this way... If it's for personal use and fan art, yup, to make money, nope... You could send a message to SFM Support and ask the question, you might get lucky... especially if it is done with finesse and caring... Shoot 'em up and gore isn't going to cut it for a charity anyway... (Sorry did not watch your clip)

There is this, but it doesn't mention charity work. that could fall under commercial use depending on the nature of the use..

Valve Video Policy
We encourage our users to make videos using Valve game content, such as playthrough or instruction videos or SFM movies. We are fine with publishing these videos to your website or YouTube or similar video sharing services. We're not fine with taking assets from our games (e.g. voice, music, items) and distributing those separately.

Use of our content in videos must be non-commercial. By that we mean you can't charge users to view or access your videos. You also can't sell or license your videos to others for a payment of any kind.

You are free to monetize your videos via the YouTube partner program and similar programs on other video sharing sites. Please don't ask us to write YouTube and tell them its fine with us to post a particular video using Valve content. It's not possible to respond to each such request. Point them to this page.

Of course this policy applies only to Valve content. If you include someone else's content in your video, such as music, you will have to get permission from the owner.
