I'll be jumping ship. GBO2 looks more like the game I want to play.
Evo still has a minor chance to keep me around, but it isnt looking good.
If i remember right the Rick Dias is already a PL500 Suit kicking normal gundams (and similar strong units) ass.
Haven't played long after Zeta hit (and as far as i know they are already at unicorn) so i can't say much to the current state of those suits but i fared farely well in low tier battles using the GM Sniper 2/Custom or the Cannon Zakus
Gouf custom was okeyish as well
The issues are mainly higher power level rooms as even newer grunt suits are usually high enough to not be able to enter the low end rooms.
Define "decent". Every suit is viable, outside of one or two. If you take a look at the patch notes on the BO2 site, you'll note that the developers specifically go out of their way to dump per-suit win/loss data, average damage dealt, weapon data, etc to players (Look for the posts titled "Unit Adjustment [Month Year]"), and adjust suits accordingly when values fall outside of acceptable parameters.
Furthermore, Suits (eventually) get shoved into the DP shop (ingame currency) and out of the gacha system entirely. This can admittedly take quite a while as in almost all cases, the devs start with the Lv1 (lowest deploy cost) version of each suit. There are also some oddities, such as the ground type Gundam (08th MS team) being completely out of the gacha pull system, however the Lv5 (cost 500) unit is the only one available for DP. Admittedly, the developers might just have forgotten to add Lv1-4 to the DP shop, as Lv5 came out most recently. Even odder, all levels of the Ez8, the Ez8 Weapon Rack variant, and the Weapon Rack variant of the Ground Type are in the DP shop.
Another note: Recently been doing experiments with a Lv5 [standard] GM (without enhancement, no less) into A rank rated ground (300). It's shockingly effective, when built correctly with the proper custom parts. 40 Melee resist & 20 Ballistic resist at cost 300 is amusing, as it counters the standard Bazooka-Melee meta. Note: Suits max out at 50 resist of each type, and most things at 300 have 17 base resist at most. It'd be hard countered by a double beam gun user (kai, sniper custom), but haven't run into any others that use that tactic in an extremely long time.
Can't say much about standard Zeon suits (personal preferences and all), but for (some) of the other federation units (in no particular order):
GM Variants:
Ground Type (MSV): Don't see these much anymore. Units are still decent.
Ground Type (08th/Sniper): LOL. Using above 200 is...a bad idea. As it has always been. 250 cost possibly can get away with bazooka, but...even the MP Guntank is significantly better at that cost.
Light Armor (Command): Have seen a total of 1. Probably due to method of obtaining being limited currently (special event).
Night Seeker 2: Seen a few. Seemed effective enough still.
GM Custom: Completely obsoletes the Powered. Can use the GM II's beam rifle (arguably better than the bazooka). Bazooka still effective.
Quel: This unit's never really been popular. Works still at 400/450. Moderately effective at 500 cost. Dangerous to user at 500 cost.
Desert GM: See these often. Railgun works well, when pilots have enough skill to actually hit the broad side of a barn.
Space: Arguably better than standard Cannon. Cannot use on ground.
Cannon II: Good for 400/450. Acceptable at 500, probably. GM rifle questionable (burst it or ASL parts). Cannons Stagger.
Command Space: Still effective with beam gun. Suspect technically obsolete due to GM II availability.
R4 Beam Rifle works well for long-range.
Double beam gun for close-in. Works wonders. Have carried 6-man teams (alone) with this strategy. Hazardous to pilot health (can go horribly wrong if out-ranged).
Avoid Bazooka (too many trade-offs + see ML variant).
Has back mounted missiles and access to better bazooka.
Guntanks:
Guncannons:
By decent I mean the level one could could go toe-to-toe with pay-2-win MS. But so far from your guys description is basically warthunder but instead of a long grind we get gacha that drops random mods and random MS. The "battle rating" of a mobile suit depends on the version of mobile suit + modifications. You get a match maker that matches you with players that are around the same "battle rating".
