Rosa's romance ending is incredibly disappointing
So, like, I go out of my way to save her, her father, her family's estate, run for her errands, all to win her heart, and all I get is a one night stand and a cold response after? "No, Henry, there's no "us", my father will marry me to someone else after the war is over so, keep your mouth shut about it all. But thanks for the bang anyway".

What the hell? Am I the only one who think this is absolutely underwhelming? I mean, of course I didn't expect her to jump on the back of my horse in an instant, as we ride into the sunset, given that she is a noble and Henry is still a bastard and a lowly squire, but still, I did expect at least some semblance of a "fairytale book romance" after that night.

That said, all romances seem a bit underwhelming and linear in this game, but I guess Rosa being such a bae triggered me the most.

It seems you havent finish the game yet. There are a few more scene and dialog with her, and Henry has more words to himself about her after you beat the game as well. Besides, Henry was not even knighted. (sure he will be soon cuz king Wenceslaus escaped from Vienna in the same year November) Not like those romance novels, back then it was basically impossible for a peasant marrying a noble girl. Rosa's reaction is 100% accurate and realistic from my perspective.

Both of the female romance options are shallow in KCD2. In either event you have a 1 nighter and it doesn't amount to much else. Big downgrade from Theresa in KCD1.

Theresa's was not any better. In terms of faithfulness and life expectancy, soldiers have always made poor husbands.

Theresa's was a bit better because you could go to see her and take her out for a stroll whenever you wanted so it was an ongoing thing.

I just want to give an example how you still could be able to aim high in getting into nobility:

One Viking decided to found the city Brygge/Brügge/Bruges, now he needed a noble women so he caught a daughter or sister of the french king, force-mariied her and told the french king 'we are now together, but I am willing to give an oath to you and be your loyal Baron' and so the count of Flandres was born.

Henry could do the same. He could steal a burrrr from Hans Capon, tell him that in this game Hans has often enough fantasized of giving land to Henry but now he waited enough and wants Pirkstein and Prybislawitz. End of talk. Then he would have his nobel rank.

Not true. Theresa was baked into much of Henry's life and story from the get go. It made their relationship much more natural than any in KCDII... except maybe Hans if you subscribe to the idea that they've secretly wanted each-other from the moment they met, too.

With Theresa, even after you finish all of the courtship quests, you can continue to see her and to take her out. Sometimes she has new dialogue, like when you find out that Radzig is Henry's father, you can take Theresa out and tell her about it. Sometimes you just take her someplace private and come back with the smitten buff. She gets upset if you go to the bath house instead of going to see her. She'll even repair your clothes for free.

It felt more like a relationship for Henry. Rosa and Katherine just amount to 1 night stands and thats it.

Yeah, things get better with Theresa if you buy her some nice clothes. And you can always go for a walk. I guess that doesn't feel like a rw love relationship to me. Her statement that her uncle would kill him pretty much rules the situation. Find a different girl, Henry,

On the other hand, if you don't have sex with anybody in KCD2, you get an ending where you go back to see her and she greats you with a smile. Come on Warhorse, Henry deserves better than that.

As for Rose, Henry's experience with his mother and his real father defines the situation. They can't be married. Can't stay together. No matter what. Best to find a guy who will raise the kid as his own and treat his mother well. The best that can be hoped for.

Meanwhile in real life you could experience even much worse romance endings...

Yeah, Henry's real father could decide he doesn't give a damn. Tolstoy wrote a novel like that, Anna Karenina. It appears she throws herself in front of a train. In that case she was nobility, but her soldier lover still didn't give a damn.

Things have changed for women in the last some hundreds of years.

Soldier was nobility too in that story.

What downgrade? KCD 1 and 2 events are going in one year. Theresa is still there, waiting on the Rattay mill.

Well yeah, she's no Theresa.

just stick with theresa bro, she and henry getting together (a good skalitz girl) and following Martin's path is about as canon of an ending as you can get given Warhorse has stated his story is now over.
