How to play HL2 in coop with a friend ? can't make this thing work

Please, Is there any valid guide to help me with Synergy to play with a friend ?

What we want is : to host a server on one of our PCs and play on it (2 players).

We've tried :
- hosting on Internet mode,
- hosting on LAN mode,
- connecting with the "favorite servers" tab,
- connecting with the console "connect <ip from hamachi>",
- connecting with the console "connect <ip from whatsmyip>" after configuring my router's NAT for port 27015
... nothing worked so far.

We're using hamachi right now but it's not mandatory : we both have valid games (paid version).
We both disabled windows firewall, checked antivirus config, etc ...

I tried to download the Synergy dedicated server Tool but it didn't work either.

We're kind of disapointed.

Can someone help me with this mod ? Thank you.

up ... anyone ? If nobody can make this work why is it even downloadable, there isn't even a single guide nor other documentation on it.

One of you should pick "Create a server", and the other should just join the host's game like you would in CS:S.

If you are having trouble hosting you should prob search for documentation on port forwarding for half life 2
