If you don't know much about basic port forwarding and console commands than no it's not easy, but it is easy to learn.
GMod works by using a relatively new system that takes a lot of time to program. Implementing UPnP to allow clients to connect to each other without port forwarding. It is one of the only Source mods to implement this system.
If you really don't want to take the few steps to port forward, you could just join a 2 slot server with your friend.
all it takes is a simple port forward and if you aren't having luck maybe a few console commands. you dont need to run a dedicated on the global server list bro.
