"There was an error connecting to the Spore servers"...
This keeps popping up when I click register, but pops up after it shows a blank box with a slider at the bottom.
It also says "Network play disabled" even though I didn't manually disable this, and this box pops up everytime I open up Spore's.
I just purchased Spore 2-3 days ago, and this has been bothering me even since I started it for the first time. I finally figured out that I had to make a EA account, not a Spore one since it didn't explain that. I tried logging in with it to get the same error, "There was an error connecting to the Spore servers".
Any feed back is appreiciated, thank you.

Servers have been down over a month, since July 10th. It doesn't take but 5 minutes to check a Steam forum to see if any players are having problems. And since you've already played 6 hours, you're no longer eligible for a Steam refund.

Looks like you've made your own decisions. Which is commendable.

Been meaning to say thanks for the info, Joe. But I guess I forgot to comment back or something of the sort. But anyway, thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

Apparently servers will be back up on the 5th of september according to rumors on this forum. Thats what happens when EA wants to pull the plug on a game that was made by a studio they bought then disbanded. But at least one dev is trying to keep the servers alive somehow.

I've heard the US servers are still up. Is there a way to get the game to connect to them instead?
Maybe by modifying the windows hosts file?

There's only one of server. Unless you want to count the private servers that a handful of people were able to reverse-engineer.

You can manually copy individual creature files into your Spore data directory.

No, I do not have detailed instructions on how to do this. (Especially not for Spore on Steam)

Meh, kinda quit Spore's after the constant crashing when I was about 10 minutes into my saved file in the Tribal Stage. I wasn't even a few days into the Tribal Stage when it happened.

You can still register through EA support, if you really want to.

I'm interested to hear how you spent "several days" in the Tribal stage. I hope you mean the sun rose twice on your planet, because that stage of game play only takes about an hour.

yeah it takes me about two hours to get from cell to space

It doesn't matter that much. You can't evolve after the beast stage, so you may as well stop as soon as you have all the parts you want to use.
