there is an issue for some people which doesnt let them launch the game, it simply says 'crysis is not responding' the second they launch through steam.

For anyone who has this issue, do the following:

For Crysis (Steam) download (I have scanned it for virus/malware; clean). It is the Bin64 folder which contains 64 bit resources for Crysis which does not come as standard with the Steam version of the game. Simply delete the existing Bin32 folder found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis and then extract the 'Bin64' folder into the same directory and rename it 'Bin32'. Crysis will now launch normally through Steam.

For Crysis Warhead (Steam) you do not have to download anything, simply go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis Warhead and delete Bin32, and then rename the already existing Bin64 to Bin32. Crysis Warhead will now launch normally through Steam.

Tried this possible fix but it didn't work for me.
Upon trying to launch the game it said it required a CD to run (which I obviously don't have since it's on steam)

Anyway, I tried a different thing that did work for me! So if the game doesn't work for you either, try this VERY SIMPLE possible fix!

1. Go to your steam library and right-click on "Crysis"
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on "Set Launch Options..."
4. Type in -dx9

thanks for this tip; worked fine with Windows8 too. Why this can't be done automatically or fixed with a patch is beyond me. Grrr

This only worked for me for the starting movie. After that it would just freeze up on a black screen so here is what I did.

Don't change anything or add anything and just lunch the game from the Crysis64 Application in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis Warhead\Bin64

You can right click Crysis64 and send to desktop. Then you can lunch it from there every time.

I was having the same problems launching the game...Although just changing the folder name didn't work for me...I found you must also change the launch properties in change the folder names as Omaeka recomends then right click the game icon in your steam library, select properties then click launch properties and type "-64" click ok...the game should now launch through steam.

Side note...that's -64 without the quotes.
