Retro Gadgets

Will I get it?
I think this game looks SO fun, I'm really into simulations and trying to explore more about technology/electronics--not as into that as I'd like to be yet. However, I'm worried it might go way over my head and I just won't understand it. So, to anyone with a good frame of reference, do you think someone who has never done coding before will still be able to effectively play the game?

Ok, so I might be biased. But I think this game could be a really good way to introduce yourself to coding. Maybe at the start of early access our tutorials / documentation will not be at the maximum level of quality, but our plan is to work really hard on that part to allow more users to enjoy our game.

If you are looking for an example of how the game works, we made a few introductory videos with some minimal coding in this playlist on YouTube:

The version we used is the one from the Steam Fest Demo, so a few things are already obsolete, but the core of the game remains the same.
Hope this can help you decide if RG is the a game you might enjoy.

I would say this game doesn't need a high level of coding knowledge. It uses LUA and I think, with time spent, anyone could learn how all this works. Best way to describe what you do is place different components on a board and then write some logic for those components. It's just a case of placing the components you want and whatever else is needed. For example, a screen needs a graphics chip and you'll need to tell the screen and chip to work together. After that you can start writing code and do 'Hello, World' or whatever else.

Start simple and build an LED with a button or something similar and work your way up. Plus depending on how the workshop functions, you could look at code/devices created by others and learn that way.

This might be a good introduction to coding or even coding logic so would certainly recommend! .

Thank you guys both for the responses!!! I think the logic makes a lot of sense! I'll probably go ahead and get it because I've really wanted to get smarter about this kind of stuff. I need to challenge myself!
