Running Crysis in 64bit - definitive solution (no cracks involved)
As I always find myself returning to Crysis 1 from time to time in these past ~10 years, I’ve decided to find proper and definitive solution for 64bit support or better put lack of thereof for digital distribution Crysis. I do posses original Crysis 1 retail DVD, and for that matter another digital copy at Origin. This solution is proven for Steam version, but should work for any other, because it is distribution gnostic.

As we all painfully know Steam version of Crysis 1 doesn’t come with 64bit binaries, and can’t be patched with retail 1.2.1 patch for DVD version that has 64bit support. Also, retail DVD version 64bit support is protected with securom, and requires presence of DVD in drive. In 2017, how many people still have DVD drives in their PCs?

There’s also issue with 32bit version, that just doesn’t work on 64bit Windows and AMD processors. But there’s superb, and elegant solution:

However, lack of 64bit binaries in Steam distribution requires completely different solution.
The most popular, as I can see on the Net is the one with cracked 64bit executables. Now, one thing that I didn’t want to do by any means is to go via cracked route! That’s a matter of principle. So, my solution is very simple and elegant, and requires only two prerequisites: Installation of Crysis Warhead and Crysis Benchmark Tool 1.05 that you can find here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_22125_start.html?21:49:24

Here are the reasons why: Crysis Warhead comes with 64bit files, and is not securom protected as you would expect from Steam game. Crysis benchmark tool helps to overcome main side effect that this solution has! Here’s what you need to do to make it work:

just Copy/Paste Bin64 folder from Crysis Warhead to Crysis!

You can start Crysis.exe now, but after you start the new game, you’ll be left hanging on a black screen. Here comes Benchmark solution!

Star the benchmark executable and make proper path setup. In the main benchmark window, select any settings, and resolution and you MUST check 64bit box (I also recommend DX10 box – benchmark run much faster in DX10 mode). After you finish running GPU benchmark, you’ll get the performance score (with missing comma after second figure), but more importantly, you’ll get the 1 save position in game Load menu!

So, now again, start the game, and instead of opting for “new game”, load that one saved position - it is the beginning of the game position!

That’s it. No cracks needed. No DVD need. All you need are Crysis Warhead, and great benchmarking tool.

This solution is tested on Windows 10 64bit, AMD FX processor and Radeon Fury graphics.

P.S
For Crysis Warhead, solution for gaming in 64bit is much simpler. All you need to do is to delete bin32 folder and rename bin64 to bin32.

Basically Crytek saying "you wanna play the game you own? ♥♥♥♥ you. Buy our other game first, then we'll let you."

I'd feel like I was doing something wrong if I brought Crysis Warhead just to play Crysis. If people comply with this sort of thing, companies like Crytek will start thinking it's okay.

I don't think it is in hands of Crytek. It's all down to distributors, and how and what they want to pay to studios.
You need to take in to account that 64bit WARHEAD didn't had securom protection unlike Crysis. Guess EA didn't want to pay for making new Crysis 64bit exe, and Crytek didn't want to spend man/hour € on it.
In any case, IMHO having WARHEAD is must for any Crysis fan, so I don't see it as an issue.

Tried other methods but this one actually works. Thanks man!

Some additional steps I had to do get the benchmark/game running after copying over Bin64 were:
1) In Bin64 delete Crysis.exe and rename Crysis64.exe to be Crysis.exe
2) Make sure when you run the benchmark tool you go to File > Set Game Path and select Crysis/Bin64

If you want to be able to launch the game from steam you can also do the following:
1) Delete Bin32 and rename Bin64 to be Bin32

All I had to do was put this in my launch options.
/affinity FE

Different computers need different solutions for various reasons. Fx 8350. gtx970.

At least I didn't necro this thread but, no. 2007 game doesn't work 10 years down the line is NOT Crytek saying F you. Steam version not having x64 files is STEAM saying F you.

So does this work with a 12 core Ryzen 3900x?

Computer: AMD processor
OS: Windows 10 - 64-bit
Crysis on Steam.

Well... Crysis Steam version does not have bit64 folder.
* If copy Crysis Warhead bit64 folder to Crysis folder this runs the game to the settings but when you start new game it will stall to the black screen = Nothing happen.
* If copy only crysis64.exe from Warhead bit64 folder, game won't even start
* Cryteck does not offer manual patch for the game via their pages (https://www.crytek.com/games/crysis)
* Windows 10 compatibility options does not work or running as administrator

Does not help.

Final try - This worked with me: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Crysis#Game_crashes_on_machines_with_AMD_CPUs (replace the 32-bit CrySystem.dll)

Or possible additional with F-secure Antivirus program: Excepton to Crysis game folder.

Am I the only one who can't get the benchmark tool to run? It is asking for a "registration code" for Crysis and I have put the one from steam Crysis>Cd keys in and it won't have it. Have also tried a few off google / youtube and it won't accept the damn key.
This is totally unacceptable from Steam. selling people a game that doesn't even start. 😤

Worked for me first try.
However I did do what @avsbst suggested before I even launched the game, so no clue if that had any bearing.
