i7-8700k + RTX 4070, post-beta patch performance perception
I think I've posted maybe half a dozen times in my history with Steam, so lemme drop in my obligatory post for this decade.

Prior to the beta: Running with mod-sourced DLSS/frame gen code. Improvement over base game, but disappointing performance increases (averaged around the 30s FPS). (I know, my CPU bottlenecks me here, but read on.)

Post-beta, with DLAA and frame gen enabled: SIGNIFICANT improvement. I don't think I've ever seen the game run in triple digits for frame count in this game before last night. I went from 20s in Akila City (med/high) to 60+fps on Ultra.

While I'm waiting for more Crimson Fleet quest fixes (c'mon, Best There Is...), I had to remark on the significance of the gaming improvement from the beta patch. If you were unsure about its efficacy, my two cents? "Significant" improvement.

There. Next post coming in 2032 with Starfield 2nd DLC reveal.

Excellent thank you I have the same cpu and am thinking of the 4090... Going to hit the high street bank tomorrow morning, do the post office in the afternoon and just to be sure I have enough I think we will go to the beach bar masked up and take the proceeds and wallets, should be enough to get one then. Best wishes.

You will severely bottleneck an rtx 4090 with an i7 8700K, I wouldn't go past a regular rtx 4070 unless you are planning to upgrade the Mobo, Cpu and ram to something at most 2 gens old. Even a used mobo, cpu and ram 2 gens old would be fine if it was an 8 Core or greater cpu. I personally wouldn't match an rtx 4090 with anything lower than a 5800X3D or 10700K / 10900K. Even the 10700K / 10900K will have some bottle neck in certain scenarios / settings. Would be fine at 1440P+ though.

LOL at your jokes though.

Lol seriously... dude you didn't think that maybe I was taking the piss out of the price for a 4090 rather than actually considering buying one?

I play on PC gamepass so I don't have the update yet. But running a 4080 with i7 13700K was playing on ultra hovering around 80-100 fps at all times.

Other then HDR is there anything in this update that will apply to me performance wise?

edit: Let me add I don't get any stuttering or performance problems I am just wondering if, without DLSS on, can I get to 120+fps in this update?

Frame gen should be a noticeable improvement for most. I was stunned at the difference when I enabled mine, and I'm bottlenecked as it is.
