Some Tips and Tricks To Increase FPS (i9-9900k, 2080ti RTX, 32gb 3000mhz ddr4, win 11)

Are you struggling to run the game with specs comparable to my own? Do you own much newer hardware and are baffled by your FPS?

Windows 11 is a complete sh*tshow bit of a beast, and I will share the steps I take to keep it under control.

TL;DR I'm going to link you to a video which goes over two tools I have been using for years to make windows 11 bearable and performant, it covers some more stuff that I personally don't use - GPU tweaks)

I can't promise miracles, but, I will share my experience at obtaining a very stable game and considering how badly optimised demanding the game is, a pretty good frame rate 50+ in New Atlantis, and way beyond 60 everywhere else, though I play capped at 60 through NVIDIA control panel.

Quick note: All my parts are stock, no overclocking on CPU or GPU, ram is 4x8gb 3000mhz ddr4 (Corsair 8GB DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3000MHz in XMP 1 if you're interested) and while I'm giving away my DNA profile I am also running an ASUS ROG-Strix Z390-F motherboard, a corsair H100x watercooler, game is installed on a 2tb samsung 970 evo M.2, windows is installed on dedicated 512gb samsung 970 evo M.2

First of all, make sure windows is up to date, make sure you have latest GPU drivers 537.13 at time of writing for NVIDIA, I do not own AMD CPU/GPU.

Secondly, clean your PC, physically, it makes the world of difference if your components can breathe. She will thank you for it regardless of FPS in Starfield. Do you smoke? Do you smoke the good kush? Clean it, it will be sticky and gunky and full of crap.

Thirdly, make sure you've installed onto an SSD this is a deal breaker.

Fourthly, I have been using a couple of tools to maintain my windows 11 install, namely BloatyNosy and Chris Titus's Windows Tool (WinUtil (known under different names)).

I will refer you now to this youtube video which is talking about optimising windows 11 and goes through both tools I mentioned. It's a fairly recent video and PERSONALLY I DID NOT FOLLOW THE GPU OPTIMISATIONS because I've spent the last four years tweaking settings for my GPU, but, I whole heartedly recommend the steps taken to debloat windows 11. I have taken these steps many many times over the years and from everything I'm reading all over the internet regarding Starfield performance I have the fastest PC at this specification, and it is achievable for you too!

Double Aside: I am running the DLSS mod from nexusmods. With other ini tweak mods and quality tweak mods I am positive you can eek out more FPS.
