It is true. because what you just said fundamentally means when you land it isnt a whole planet, just creating an instance, and when you "move" a new instance is created. It seems clear however that the landing areas are not contigous.
I have more important things to worry about than to measure how many football fields I can run from point A to point B once exiting my ship.

It's part instance and part handcrafted, and depending on what missions you might be doing or what trouble you may have got into, stuff will spawn near you accordingly.
No, I saw the message. It said "Boundry reached - open map to explore another region or return to your ship."
Also it apparently took the guy 40 minutes to hit the boundry. So, if the guy landed in the middle of a square exploration area that takes 40 minutes to reach each side of square from the ship, how big do you think these explorable areas are?
Lets say I get out of my ship, travel north-40 minutes, Now I walk to the southern border, 80 minutes, from there I walk to the eastern border, 40 minutes.... they're huge
