(READ ME) How to use and report on unstable branch

The purpose of the "unstable" beta branch is to get specific features or changes out to a large set of players in order to find and fix issues before they make it into a main update release. If you choose to switch your game to the unstable branch, please do so with the intent of making helpful reports.

The unstable branch currently does not feature the upcoming content from the next main release, and you should not use the unstable branch as a way to see what's coming to the game.

Guidelines for reporting:

• Do not start a discussion thread about multiple issues rolled into one post. Make one thread per issue for clean organization of topics.
  
• Do not start a discussion thread with a generic title like "problems". Make the title relevant to the topic so others can find and contribute to it.
  
• Do not start a discussion thread about an issue that already has a thread open here. Search the existing posts before you post.
  
• Do not make threads about issues that are also present in the main release of the game, unless the unstable branch significantly changes their nature. If you're not sure whether an issue was pre-existing, please check before you post.
  
• Read any instructions in the game's main menu change log pop-up carefully, as this is used to explain the purpose of the build and communicate other information.
  
• When submitting a report, please mention the exact version stamp of the build as listed on the screen or in the main menu (e.g. 20231014.1) and provide the names for any missions you are describing.
  
• If possible, show screenshots or video of issues you encounter.
  
• When crashes or broken features are involved in your report, please include the Player.log file created during that gameplay session. You can link to a text posting service like pastebin or email the file to the GHPC info email shown on the main website. You can find the log file at:

  C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\LocalLow\Radian Simulations LLC\GHPC

How to switch to the unstable branch on Steam:

• Right-click the entry for Gunner, HEAT, PC! in your games list in the Steam app
  
• Select "Properties"
  
• Select the "Betas" section in the list on the left side of the pop-up. If you do not see this entry in the list, your Steam app may not yet have updated the meta files for GHPC. Restart Steam and it should work.
  
• For the top entry ("Beta Participation"), select "unstable" from the drop-down.
  
• Wait for the Steam client to re-download the game. You should see [unstable] in the game title in your games list if it's worked correctly.
  
• Launch GHPC. You should see labeling in the main menu that says "experimental".
