I can still find goats in these locations, but I can't use traps to keep them alive.
I caught 2 male partridge about 100 days ago, but after the rainy season came again, I couldn't catch anything.
You should be able to catch prey often with 100% trapping.
It is possible that you're doing something that is interfering with the trapping.
Here are a few tips that might be of help to you:
- Use long lasting bait, like seeds or salted fish. If bait expires before the trap triggers, the trapping timer will reset and you will catch nothing.
- Do not change bait from a trap, that will reset the timer.
- Do not use small game traps (deadfall, snare) in monitor lizard territory, as they will eat your prey reducing your chances of catching anything.
Let me know if this helps!
For Live Partridges I suggest using Snare Traps in the wetlands, any bait should work.
For Live Goats I suggest using 1 Pit Trap in Eastern Highlands and 1 Pit trap in Western Highlands. ( I never remember which one works well but I think both should ). I suggest Yams as bait.
I really hope you did not kill all the Partridges on the Island yet. That can happen if you spam lots of deadfall traps.
Good luck!
I will try again today to see what difference using seeds and salted fish as bait will make.
BTW, the trapping pit I placed in grassland used grain as bait and nothing has happened in three days.
I have been building trapping fences in grassland, hope this will help.
I'll let you know if I have any success, thank you very much.
I was also starting to worry if I had really killed all the partridges, but I haven't caught any since the first dry season.
Maybe there is a resource regeneration setting in the game?
Thanks a lot.
There is resources regeneration in the game but it depends on number of animals or plants still leftover.
In example of animals there needs to be at least 2 alive for them to grow back the population and it would be much slower than if for example there is 5, 10 or 20.
For plants I think only 1 is enough ( some plants are limitless though ) but again if there are only few left it will take longer for them to repopulate.
Hello! I am at day 282 and I have in every area a Pit Trap. I did every thing told in this post. But every day my seed is gone and there is nothing in the trap. I am at 100% hunting.
I check the traps every morning but there is never something in. Then I set them up again and use a seed. One it even triggered when I was in the area and I checked right away but nothing.
Also my snare traps catched birds but since 50 Days they also catch nothing. I am sure this must be a bug. I really want to have a goat for the milk. Can someone help me? :(
3 rock trap, secrety valley , various baits (rice, stalks, whatever...) very few success. I dismantled them by day 60 or 80?, once maxed trap skill
3 snare traps, various baits (rice, stalks, whatever...) got 3 or 4 partridges
2 hole Pit traps (jungle deep and some highlands) perhaps after day 80. Got 3 boars in the jungle & 1 goat in the highland. Got at least 1 more but died because could not check on time
Mainly used lemongrass & yam. But also other available baits
Didnt craft cage traps. Hunted perhaps just 1 or 2 goats in all the run
Thanks this helped! I changed seed with rice straw and got remedially 6 goats. Now is the question what you need for boars as a bait?
