Message from the Forspoken Development team: PC version game play experiences and options
With the Forspoken PC version, you can tweak your game performance/quality with various graphics options.

■ Graphics Options
There are 4 graphics presets to chose from: “Low”, “Standard”, “High” and “Ultra High.” Also a custom option is available to tweak the settings further.
The title supports up to 120 FPS maximum, a resolution of up to 4K and an ultra-wide aspect ratio up to 32:9.
The title also supports super resolution features such as AMD FSR 2.1

The PC specs we revealed recently are based on the following graphics settings.
- Minimum requirements: 720p resolution, preset “Low” at 30 FPS average
- Recommended: 1440p resolution, preset “Standard” at above 30 FPS
- 4k recommended: 4k resolution, preset “High” at 60 FPS average

Depending on your hardware configuration such as storage type, system RAM and VRAM capacity, FPS will vary. Adjusting the graphics setting will help you find the best settings for your system.

Note: Forspoken uses a streaming texture technique to load textures, this technique utilizes free spaces of VRAM.
VRAM is also consumed by other elements such as model data and effects. The amount of VRAM usage depends on the graphics option chosen.

In the preset “High” other elements of game assets consume higher VRAM than in the “Standard” preset. With 8GB VRAM, the GPU has less headroom for texture streaming which might result in a noticeable downgrade of texture quality in certain parts of the game.
We recommend having 12GB or more VRAM available when using the preset “High”, in order to experience the game with high quality visuals.

■ Storage Specs
This title uses Direct Storage technology. By running a NVMe SSD drive, loading time may finish within 1~2 seconds. With SATA SSD it may take about 10 seconds.
*loading time may vary depending on other hardware configurations and the storage devices in use.

The title can also run with a hard disk drive, however for a comfortable experience we recommend using SSD drives.

What about DirectStorage on win10?

"DirectStorage games will work on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, but there are additional optimizations in the IO stack available to Windows 11 users, so that is our recommended choice for the best improvements. Games running on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 will see gains from an efficient GPU decompression implementation, as the key component to this feature is moving the workload from the CPU to the GPU rather than changes to the OS itself."

This doesnt use DirectStorage 1.1 aka the version with GPU decompression. Its useless in other words

If a 4080 is recommended for high settings for 4K/60, what happens if you bump that to Ultra. 4090 required!! Lol

How come no dlss?

Is it AMD sponsored?

I believe so, yes. Since it’s a PlayStation exclusive and that PlayStation uses a custom AMD GPU, I’d imagine AMD’s FSR is at play. Not sure if FSR 2.2 or 2.1

Really?

TBH I wouldn't touch this game with a stick, everything in it turns me off, just interested on the directstorage tech.

Gotta wait for that Digital Foundry review...

This game is a bombing! The poor optimization is coming!

No, a RTX 6000

Can't believe I read this and you're asking users to have a 4080. A 4080 and not even preset to Ultra High.

This probably won't happen but I'll ask anyway: Please make 4k Textures an optional download. 150gb is too much and 4k textures that I'll never use is a waste of space.

Also before making a PC port you should take a look at Steam's hardware survey results. https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/
Most people don't have the GPUs needed to even run this game in 1080p low settings.

Interesting - this OP, sunilg, is the same person who posted on Star Ocean (the new one).

Star ocean was a great game plagued with severe performance issues.

How is the game running on a PS5 with just 16 GB for everything (operating system, game code, game cache, gfx data, gfx cache)?

They say you need free VRAM buffer available for their streaming technique to work, how did they find that free buffer for the PS5 version?

I think they're using a really a somewhat early Direct Storage implementation even if it's 1.1, the tech is supposed to alleviate VRAM requirements, not to increase them. I mean they've already made the 4070 Ti obsolete for ultra settings.

Also, how about shader compilation? Is this going to be a stuttering fest?
Edit: The demo seems to compile the shaders ahead of time 1st time you launch it.

Well, according to the PS5 DF review the console version has bad performance issues too...

so in other words its an optimization nightmare. DLSS is better than FSR in every way but developers keep trying to force-feed FSR AMD must be paying good for this sponsorship.

I think they're using a really unoptimized and old Direct Storage implementation (1.0) so for high quality 60 fps PC needs like 40-48 GB total RAM vs 16 GB on PS5. I mean they've already made the 4070 Ti obsolete for ultra settings.

Granted the PS5 version is running on base resolution of 720p or 1080p upscaled.
