Battlefield™ 2042 Open Beta

Battlefield™ 2042 Open Beta

Boot Oct 8 @ 2:46pm
Worse performance than CP2077 and Deathloop (at Launch)
First thing I did was click on the options menu, which took 4 minutes to load and randomly changed a bunch of settings all at once, including the resolution which got set to 1024 and screwed up my displays, while preventing me from closing the "Do you want to keep these settings" menu. If I said no, it closed and instantly reopened. If I said yes, nothing happened. After a restart, it now refuses to connect to online.

Edit: Changed title to be more accurate and removed whiny last sentence

Hi I'm King Excuse, I like to make up situations so our actual situation seems better off.

Please show me a scenario where Dice's launches haven't been like this or worse. Keep being blind tho.

Beta doesn't mean crap, trying a beta out for 4 days only? Yeah no thats a stress test for their servers PERIOD. I doubt they've fixed anything or will have that much of a improvement by the time november rolls around.

I'm not the type to bash BF much but its obvious they don't care anymore, look at V

"Let's do a beta with a 5 months old build of the game."

Yeah, great idea.

so you are the one who know Dice intention why they use this build as beta right ?

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

2 things: stress test their servers and promotion.

Why not make a beta using the current build of the game ?

im not an employe of EA or Dice so i have to guess

and my wild guess is for "why they don't use a current build instead of this beta" is:

why remove feature they only want to be played at release "again" !!!!

testing "again" if there is no loophole or infomation in the code that giving away things they don't want to be public before release

this above is so time consuming and time is what you don't want to be waste in crunchtime before the realse

as you mentioned an old build is enough for stress test the netcode and the server load

becuase such a test with many thousand people can't be don by the developer inhouse

Just because I enjoyed the parts of CP2077 that were actually functional and had development time doesn't invalidate my point. I tried 3 different matches in the 30-ish minutes I played the Beta and they all ran so terribly I was practically watching a slideshow. The first two ended minutes after joining, and the third crashed my game. Yes I tried changing the settings around to try and make things work to no avail, and yes my drivers are up to date. My PC specs are good enough to run this game above minimum settings but in its current form, clearly not

I don't particularly see a reason you decided to act so :steamsalty:salty:steamsalty: on a post describing my technical issues and opinions with the Beta, but good luck with your sour mood.
Wish you the best :lunar2019piginablanket:

This beta should have been done at least 3 months before the intended release date, 1 month will not be enough to fix all the issues and rework the terrible UI.

Let's see how the game will work when it launches 1 month from now, but giving the past launches i can imagine that it will not be good.

For now i will wait for a free weekend or something to see how it plays in the final version.

i'm not sour or salty i only want to understand why you choose such a comparission

in your headline:

"Somehow runs worse than CP2077 and Deathloop"

in my opionion you are saying that CP2077 and Death Loop also are bad games and the beta is even worse

but in your review for CP2077 you say it is a good game and for Death Loop you review looks like this

"A very good game, with beautiful art, excellent gameplay and voice acting on par with any other Arkane game"

so what now ? I'm confsued, headline says all games worse, your reviews says games are good

but hey maybe I'm to old

have a nice day and stay save

I understand your confusion, and I will clarify that I'm not calling any of these games bad, I'm just saying that they run or ran poorly performance-wise. I adore Deathloop, had fun with CP2077 and I've overall enjoyed every released Battlefield game I've played. I love a lot of the concepts that went into BF2042 like the weapon customization and the vehicle spawning, I'm just salty myself that I'm unable to play the Beta due to my performance. Not intending to come across as a prick, though it probably looked that way

Take care of yourself :lunar2019grinningpig:

Why not make a beta using the current build of the game ?

And likely, a way to secure pre-orders. There's a reason they said it was an "open" beta lasting four days, when in reality it was a closed beta, followed by an open beta. They did it so that people would try to play the "open" beta, but then realize they couldn't join without pre-ordering.

Scummy EA... I expect nothing less at this point, and nobody else should either.

Yeah, but if they think that with this beta they would secure some pre-orders...

I see a lot of people that are asking for a refund and people like me that did not feel that this game is worth the money.

About the build, 3 ou 4 months old... It doesen't matters it only shows that the game is not even close to be ready.
