Not sure if you'll also read this but here's a suggestion;
Maybe make it so that you can play daily tidies up to 365 days in the past. So that, for example, in a year from now there will be 365 puzzles available! And if you complete them all you get that 365 daily tidies achievement, and maybe scrap the very high 'number of days in a row' achievements. This way it'll be way more interesting to keep playing the game and keep up with the puzzles every now and then, and you will also have more content for the game overtime :)
Cozy Grove handled a similar idea by making it total days rather than consecutive days. Duolingo uses streak freezes, and Viridi has a pause system. So there's lots of ways to implement it while still keeping it as a special, rare achievement.
Being able to play past dailies also helps keep it cozy because then you don't get FOMO and can reach for that "extreme" achievement on your own terms without having to do things like alter your system clock etc.
(P.S. A friend gave me this game because she knew I'd like the gameplay, I'm not here for the achievements, though it's always exciting when there's a game I might be able to 100% with my disabilities.)
You're right, some of the achievements are just not realistic. We have decided to remove the achievements that require sustained commitment for "consecutive Daily Tidy's played".
We have removed:
- "Clean Streak" (Play 90 consecutive Daily Tidy's)
- "Routine Clean" (Play 150 consecutive Daily Tidy's)
- "Daring Duster" (Play 300 consecutive Daily Tidy's)
We are keeping the "Calendar Collector" achievement, which is "Play 30 consecutive Daily Tidy's", as we feel like this gets at the concept with a more feasible challenge.
Any other achievements that relate to the number of Daily Tidy's played are cumulative and don't require any specific timing commitment, so they'll just add up over time.
Again, thanks for the discussion, we appreciate your insight!
Wah how are you at 166 out of 365?
I feel like 100 would be more fair, still a lot of time but, not a whole year.
I only just got the snowflake daily today (unlike achievement hunters, I am playing in real time, ehe). Ironically, I loaded up the game thinking clearing today's daily would be a nice little warm up to get my day started. It was not. It was a horrendous time sink of sunk cost fallacy. The idea behind the puzzle is fun, but the execution is not. The endless scrolling through the "slide" with no big picture to get a sense of space is frustrating and boring. It does not help that I play with toggle-to-drag (due to disability - I can't hold-drag), so it's just tons of clicking and resetting my cursor to continue searching. And then, then I realized I had to do 3 snowflakes. I'm never doing a Daily Tidy in the morning again.
I'm afraid to see what the constellation dailies are like... But just to be clear! I think these are pretty normal "first game" troubles and I'm really enjoying the game otherwise! Sorting the toolboxes is immensely satisfying - these stay tidy unlike the ones I used to have to tidy in my old job!
Hi there, thanks for bringing this to our attention! We will give this a think upon to see if we can ease some of the frustrations with this puzzle mechanic.
