Anyone know if STAB exists in this game?
Same Type Attack Bonus
In Pokemon, and a lot of other mon-likes, there's usually a boost (In pkmn it's a 2x boost last I checked) to power/damage when using moves that are the same type as your monster.
If not then is it mostly just whatever moves you want? (Maybe whatever moves your mon has a boost to with passives...)

Mostly got thinking cause I had a Foxspark that had a dark damage boost.

I have the same question. It's not mentioned in the survival guide, so chances are there's no STAB? Which then means that you can just have the pals you like and teach them different moves for type coverage. But the devs will have to confirm.
I don't have the answer, but if STAB weren't in the game, having pals with multiple elements would then only give disadvantages, as they'd be weak to multiple elements, while getting (almost) no bonuses in return (the exception being the automatic learning of moves of those types by default, which doesn't feel like enough).
STAB does exist in the game. Tested manually mounted on mi Chillet vs a dummy. I made him learn Hydro Jet (no STAB) and compared its damage VS Dragon Cannon (STAB), they are essentially the same skill but for different elements. It went like this:

Dragon Cannon (STAB) damage range: 836-1010
Hydro Jet (no STAB) damage range: 692-810

So it is likely to be around 20%

Btw, if anyone else wants to do testing, keep in mind that hunger modifies the pal damage so don't forget to max it's hunger for the test.

If it's only 20% then that's pretty good. It means you can use STAB to optimize but it's not be all end all.
Thanks for testing!

If hunger does change the damage output of your Pals, then the hunger / auto-feeding system should be changed, imo. Since they only eat at around half of their hunger. So that would mean they have less damage, nearly all the time.
