Controller Support -- Updated with Steam Controller Alternative
Just about every isometric ARPG have gone the way of the gamepad and this would be a determining factor for me in supporting the game. Will early access have full controller support?

EDIT: An alternative for using controller has been provided in this thread, created by Reddit user Blaggletoad with the link below. I've been using it and can attest to its efficiency. Hopefully this can give the devs some perspective in the applicability of controllers for the game they're developing and there will be less apprehension about incorporating full support in the future.

We aren't currently developing for controller, but we've noticed the interest!

Thank you for the response and best of luck on the beta!

Why wouldn't you? To ignore this game goes.

We're interested in making the game as optimized as possible in its current form on PC before looking at controller options. Controller is a possibility, but it's also a design constraint. It definitely would be nice to make the game more accessible by adapting it for controllers as well, but our priority is making the gameplay as great as possible right now!

"It's a design constraint"

Well with that attitude, lol. Blizzard modernized the recent release of D2 remastered, arguably the most prestigious isometric ARPG's that was released over 20 years ago, with complete controller support. If it's a constraint in 2021, I feel like you might be doing something wrong. I'm sensitive to the fact that V isn't Diablo but if it did become a constraint, it sounds like something went awry with development on a fundamental level. Nevertheless, best of luck with the release!

Yeahhh I'm with everyone else here, this game looks right up my alley (especially the fact ya'll made a female playable character) *except* no gamepad support = no buy.
I'll wishlist it to keep track but unless you add it, it'll just get ignored.

Gotta love the gaslighting of the mod. Instead of just saying "okay, i'll wait for controller support", you instead choose to be emotionally manipulative and imply that the devs are somehow bad at their job or bad people for not doing it RIGHT NOW... y'know.. just for YOU.
The "me me me" generation doing it's thing as usual, i guess.

Emotionally manipulative? That's a bit hyperbolic, don't you think? And why would anyone wait for something that wasn't communicated to be actively pursued by the devs? I used the precedent that's been set by other developers for isometric RPG's; I'm not a developer. It has nothing to do with me exclusively, but that was quite the grand deduction you made about this generation when you don't know anything about me.

Suggestions to devs are helpful. Yes. But if you KNOW, they aren't doing it right now, then why be all upset about it?
Just go do something else or put it on ignore. Coming here and bashing the devs or random internet strangers wont make things happen any faster.
I'm just baffled by the impatience of gamers nowadays. Not only that, but they also want every game to appeal to every demographic.
People need to temper their expectations.

I haven't posted on this board in over half a year because I removed the game from my wish list after I received the dev's response. Perhaps some people should temper their expectations, but the expectation for controller support for isometric ARPG's isn't pie in the sky. In fact, I'd wager the majority of higher budget titles of the genre included at least some capacity of support in the last decade, if not fully supported. I wished the dev's well in their original response to me, and responded to their claim about it being a design constraint. Perhaps you should try giving credence to legitimate criticism.

Blizzard had to add controllers to D2R because after nearly 30 years it's finally time to admit click-to-move is a mistake. Since V-Rising is WASD out the gate it isn't repeating this mistake and can afford to make controller support a side project. Even Diablo Immortal is embracing WASD so there's not much reason for the controller band-aid anymore now that more devs are embracing proper controls.
