Climbing Rank?
Why did they make climbing rank so difficult? It seems to depend so heavily on the market and luck of the draw that some matches are lost from the start. I've played enough that I can easily guess which cards my opponent will buy, so at this point it's just a matter of how the dice roll.
I only had some success and finally reached silver by playing a damage rush fighter and ending games quickly. But every time I run into clerics it's a loss. There must be some broken meta I am missing? Some Wizard or Thief build?

After playing even more I've concluded that most matches are decided within the first few turns and are based almost entirely on 2 things:
1. The luck of the market and hoping that the card revealed after your opponent buys is a good card you can buy.
2. The class, build and level of you and your opponent. You might say this is as intended, but there's no brain power involved. Some classes/builds counter each other so hard that it's impossible to win.
In conclusion, this game is 80% luck and 20% skill. The only way people are climbing rank is by playing an ungodly amount of hours and eventually climbing rank because of a slightly positive win rate. Or running into the same guy 5 times in a row because the player base is so small (happened to me).

agree with everything you said. but i put it more at 95% luck, 5% skill. once you know the cards, as you say, you can guess your opponent's buys. so its all roll of the dice.

i do think tho some classes are vastly superior. i can't believe you made progress with the fighter, because they have no card cycling. the wizard, and the ranger even more so have superior card cycling. The thief can steal an entire card of any cost from the opponent and constantly reduce their hand. that's also insanely strong.

although all my experience is only playing until lvl 4 abilities. perhaps at lvl 10 or higher, things change dramatically.

The fighter is the rushdown class. I've had fun playing fighter. Depending on your level and levelup choices, you can start with 10 damage in your starting deck. This means that you only need 5 deckcycles to win a game (assuming no card purchases from either).

The class most resistant to this is the fighter (high health) and the cleric (self healing/champion protection). The fighter ability seems the weakest, but it isn't quite so in the early game, where card draw isn't worth 2 gold, but extra damage can be. It forces the opponent to prioritize healing (if there are any options) and guards (which make the fighter ability better).

Like all deckbuilders there is quite a lot of luck. Personally, I wish you'd play with the top card of the market deck revealed so you know what card you're putting into the pool. To me, trying to calculate chances of things is part of the fun, but I can see why it isn't for everyone.

Speaking as a fairly serious player of the physical version of this game, I can tell you that yes there is a meta all right. The meta is simply this: you do NOT use the Heroes at all as they are woefully imbalanced and do not deliver a satisfying experience because of that.
