Inexplicable actually. Especially with random matchmaking. If no match making I could accept they expect you to form your own teams in discord. Does steam charge for games integrating voice chat? Is that the reason?

Absolutely garbage idea IF the game does not include VC. Now, if you wanna opt not to use it (and that's cool, that's a personal choice thing) then that's one thing. But to expect us to rely on pings that people do not look at, emotes that they can't see you use mid fight, and shooting that's just...how do I put this...mediocre teamwork? No. Now, having said all that: if the ping system were better designed to grab a player's attention (such as different ping icons) or emotes came with a callout ("look over here!" "danger!" "HELP" etc) and you could ping cover as cover and not just a "look at dis wall yo" then I'd totally agree it'd be actually easy comfy to play (like WWZ), but they aren't there yet. And not having a team to play with via discord? Painful, not soulful

Not every game needs voicechat and if you're hurting so bad go premake a lobby via Discord.

Bigger issue is lack of ingame text chat ;'(

No such thing. if it exists certain expectations of using it would arise. If it exists and affects gameplay significantly then the game itself would be balanced around it. The argument that people can just 'decide' not to do a thing is never a good argument, because things do not exist in a vacuum, you wanting to have built in voice chat is you wanting to force me to voice chat.

Just imagine joining a game with some people wanting/thinking they are talking to others on voice and others not even hearing them. It would cause chaos, and the chatites would attempt to impose the tyranny of the chat onto all, arguing that it provides superior game outcomes and thus is the correct mode of play.

As it currently is everyone knows what they are dealing with, and the only people who are using voice chat are those who explicitly set it up beforehand, so even if these people are doing something like duoing and playing with one random, there is no confusion about what that random is or is not going to be doing when it comes to voice chat.

It is harmonious.

The game also has no text chat in order to communicate. How would you defend that?
