As an example, we currently have 9 characters and my friend is leading 5 of them on the map and in combat.
You and your friend share your cash, can exchange item (equipment, food, medicine, etc.) through the camp box. And both of you must be together for entering town or setting camp.
And you can choose which player controls which character, like for me and my friends, I take all the archer and animal, while he focus on melee characters.
From the description of the update, I thought it was the latter, but from "both of you must be together for entering town or setting camp", it sounds like it's possible to not be together
You can both or all 3 or 4 (depending on with how many people you play) go as far as your screens edge until you get pushed together towards the leader (the host that started the game) that can "drag" you towards their direction that way.
Co-op is a ton of fun, and I highly recommend it.
Just started playing with friend.
Its open-world coop but you cant move too far from each other, have to be on same screen range.
Coop is for 4 players max because at start there are only 4 characters. You can share characters but each player control they own, depends how you guys split characters between each other.
Anytime in camp, you can take control or give control to characters.
Every player has they own inventory but gold, influence and weight cap is shared across everyone.
Camp has shared chest where players can store value items or exchange items between each other.
When it comes to quests and dialogues, everyone can see and choose options but only one option is per company hence talk it out how you want to play.
Interactions in city you do as party so 1 location for all players at the same time.
Combat is turn based but within each turn there are free actions that you choose what character will move at time. All players can move without waiting for each other but for example: team move - enemy move - enemy move - team move = then if one player use team move, other players need to wait for next team move.
I think its all for now.
